Truly the theater of the absurd! I loved these guys from the first time i heard them. All I can say is you either get what they do or you don't. Some of their humor is a bit hard to follow and some of the live bits are harder still without visuals to go along with the dialog. Chances are, if you are reading this you already have some familiarity with them. This piece is no different than their others. They haven't missed a beat. As a fan, this would be a satisfactory addition. If you are a newby to them I would recommend either The Giant Rat of Sumatra, Waiting for the Electrician or Someone Like Him, or Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand me the Pliers. If you get those, onward into the fog!!!!!

Wow, wow, wow. This show is so great, with just two Cast members, and a small orchestra this show hits a home run. The show centers around John and Jen (go figure) but John her brother dies, and she blames herself partly, so when she has a son she names him John and tries to reincarnate her brother. It is such an amazing show. I strongly suggest getting this show no matter who you are. Listen to it all the way through, and see if you aren't moved. This show is great also in that the music tells the story perfectly. Jen's voice can be a little sharp, but over all its fine. Jon's voice is absolutely lovely. This would get a 4.5 stars if I could give it. And again this isn't just for Broadway lovers, but everyone! Favorite Song: "Every goodbye is Hello"

This Canadian collection is absolutely wonderful, largely due to to Beatrice Wain's wonderful voice. All 24 tracks are musical gems of gentle and sophisticated swing. The material is culled from Miss Wain's first solo recordings (after an extremely successful stint singing with Larry Clinton and his Orchestra). Miss Wain's delivery and timing show an inherent jazziness akin to that of Ella Fitzgerald (check out "Make With the Kisses"), but her earthy and wonderfully natural tone (with a slight New York accent) are uniquely her own, and set Miss Wain apart from her contemporaries. Her phrasing is perfect with a constant focus on the integrity of the lyric and melody. Her vocal embellishments are incredibly effective because of their rarity, and never dominate or derail the performance. The result ... Read More

I heard Swing The Mood on the radio and for the CD through Google. I was mainly looking for it because of the one song, but I was very happy to hear all the other songs on the CD as well. I'll be watching for many more Jive Bunny selections in the future.

"No Kinda Dancer" almost certainly won't be your first Robert Earl Keen purchase (odds are favoring close to 100% on that), but it may well end up being your favorite. As of the follow up ("West Textures") Keen would already have his songwriting down to a marketable formula (although one of the best and least exhaustible formalae there is), but here he does what he does best without an inkling of how it's going to go over, and there's a purity in that which cannot be found on any of his subsequent albums.

The only thing that deliberately points toward his future progression is "Keep Swervin' In My Lane", an enjoyable if somewhat lightweight metaphor for the obstacles Keen is constantly having to reckon with. It's a decent song, mind you, but unlike the rest of the album it does have a ... Read More
