I bought this collection because I enjoy Neil Diamond's songs and his voice. I have a few of his cd's but did not have the song "Forever in blue jeans". My husband and I like the bonus DVD in this collection. It was great. I read the reviews on this site before I bought this and was a little leery when in one of the reviews mentioned an unplayable cd in the collection. Well, try to play it in the DVD player instead. You will enjoy it.

I remember hearing Neil Diamond for the first time doing Solitary man in the mid 60's.
Little did I know I would be listening to and enjoying him some 40+ years later.
Neil started his career during the 60's when you had Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel and other rolk singers from New York starting out.
Diamond instead of writing about social injustice and poverty chose to write about Love and his native New York.
Neil had passion in his music and it was what made his music great.
He also wrote songs for other artists including "I'm a Beliver" for the Monkees.
I remember hearing Neil Diamond doing Play Me, Song Sung Blue, Sweet Caroline and many others.
Neil is one of the finest writers of the last 50 years, his music is known by many people. His songs ... Read More

First off, I love the Hollies. I really can do without the 2000 era stuff but that's not the real crime here. The wizards at EMI (where do they find these guys - whew) decided to omit the studio versions of Bus Top (huh??), Just One Look, He Ain't Heavy, etc' for live versions from the 70's. That could be the most inane box-set decision I've ever seen. You spend all that cash and don't get those essential songs!! Then to top it all off you get that musical vomit bag Purple Rain. I can see the excitement melt off of some thrilled fan's face upon opening this as a gift. "WOW!! The Hollies.....uh, Bus Stop and Stop, Stop, Stop are live from the 70s, oh, uh, OK no studio versions? Uh, Purple Rain? Do they do any Shalamar covers on here"? There is a ton of great stuff on this, but Duh?? Find this ... Read More

I've been debating 4 or 5 stars on this review. I do consider myself a Neil Diamond fan, but I am a little disappointed by this collection. Jonathan Livingston Seagull is unrepresented, and it does not include "Crunchy Granola Suite" which was on the original "Hot August Night". (The guitar riff from it does show up on the DVD when it looks backstage at the tour, but I still feel gypped.

The quality is good, and it captures the excitement of the performances. The DVD concert from Ireland is also good. However, Diamond seems to sing for half the songs and shouts out the lyrics for the other half. Maybe he's trying to be the next Rex Harrison ("My Fair Lady", the original "Dr. Doolittle"), though Rex just spoke his lyrics as opposed to shouting them.

The behind the scenes ... Read More
