mark robinson has the guitar dicipline of an early 80's robert fripp (the prog king's work with talking heads or 80's era king crimson comes to mind) but in a new-orderish, retro electro pop way that ups the funky, stark pop sensibility that has been this man's trademark for years. bring in those smooth robinson vocals and you have somehting nice to listen to while cleaning your bathrom, dancing alone in your room or riding a bike through the city. What really gets me going is the intricate yet simple and tight guitar work on this record, with guitars playing with rhythm as much as melody to create little puzzles upon which mark can sing. mmmm nice.

Although, professionally produced, Cliff never moves beyond the same safe songs and arrangements. And, many song lyrics are pedestrian at worse to simple at best. Some songs are hits and will have you shuffling your feet. Cliff fans will enjoy this album but it is not reason to spend money, except of course if you are a Cliffette. In my opinion, he is a second-rate Paul McCartney clone.

Gorgeous melodies and crisp vocals, this is a fantastic album. Lots of rock and roll and ethereal ballads. My personal fave is 'forever' a beautiful ballad, with synth parts that really sound magical. There are other great songs. Listen to the harmonies on 'once upon a time' and the good and subtle use of synths. The ballads 'remember me' and 'some people' are also included. There are also no less than eight bonus tracks, of which Cliff writes four himself. These are all wonderful tracks, with 'one time lover man' standing out to me. I think the 80's style really suited Cliff's voice and style, as much as the 50's/60's, and he proves that here
