I was at the series of shows from 1986 where this album was made. I couldn't wait for it to come out. Part of the problem is false advertising. While most of this was recorded at the Greek Theatre in 1986, some of it was from the Mountain View Music Theatre in northern California. I give it two stars only because it does capture the feel of a Diamond concert just a bit. Still, other than, I am I Said, Cherry Cherry, and Hello Again, the songs are simply butchered. To make it worse, the album is poorly mixed. If you want later Diamond live material, checi out "Greatest Hits 1966-1992, or Stages. Avoid "Live From America" like the plague.

I am a Knight Rider fan myself, and thouroghly enjoyed "Jump In My Car", so I just had to see if his singing was cheesy as some think, or if it was bad as some think!! It was neither cheesy or bad!!!! It was super!!!!! Dave sings 15 songs sung from their original artists, but Davia adds lot's of enthusiasm!! A lot of the songs did sound like they were synthesized, but for some reason, I prefer synthesized music over the real thing... I found myself tapping my foot to this guy, and thinking:: "I need to collect all of Hoff's CD's"!!! I guess we all like what we like, and some people don't prefer Hoff, but I prefer him all the way after listening to this!!!! Very catchy, and makes me feel in a good mood!! This is by far the best music to listen to. You hear the piano,violin,flutes etc, just as if you were right there in the audience. I am looking for more from the London Symphony Orchestra

I greatly enjoyed Mr. Hasselhoff's personal selections -- and so will you. Although he is a good singer, his voice was slightly strained on the very low opening notes of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling." The Country Western dialect he used in several songs sounded natural. My favorite song (outside of "New York, New York") is first on the album -- City of New Orleans -- because I am a daily commuter on the Long Island Railroad! The song lyrics in the booklet were helpful but out of sequence with the record. The accompanying photos were most attractive for obvious reasons; but one with a representation of an American Flag on a horse's head seemed inappropriate. On the other hand, I enjoyed the inclusion of "America" from West Side Story as well as the "Knight Rider" theme. The Christmas music was a delightful ... Read More

I bought this collection because I enjoy Neil Diamond's songs and his voice. I have a few of his cd's but did not have the song "Forever in blue jeans". My husband and I like the bonus DVD in this collection. It was great. I read the reviews on this site before I bought this and was a little leery when in one of the reviews mentioned an unplayable cd in the collection. Well, try to play it in the DVD player instead. You will enjoy it.
