Rose originally established her reputation as leader singer of the family group, Maddox Brothers and Rose, a very successful high-energy live act of the forties and fifties. They also made some excellent recordings on Four Star and Columbia, most of which has been released on CD. Eventually, Rose went solo. This boxed set contains everything that Rose recorded for Capitol between 1959 and 1965. Some of these songs are re-recordings of songs that she had previously recorded with her brothers. Many of the songs here were never released at the time and remained in the vaults until this boxed set was released.

Rose's music had mellowed a little by the time she signed for Capitol, but do not fear - there is still plenty of up-tempo material here although there are also plenty of slower ... Read More

This woman once again proves to the younger musicians and everyone else willing to listen: Age is just a number and experience counts for everything.

She pulls lyrics form some of the great including Annie Lennox! And holy mother og pete's christ can this woman sing! I saw her live and this album does a pretty nice job of pulling off her live sound. It is so raw and gritty like best Stax records were. Don't hesitate appreciate and buy this album.

I recently saw Indigenous play out at the Roxy near Tahlequah, Oklahoma during the Cherokee Nation annual festival and he was truly amazing. It is not often that you see a lead singer who also plays lead guitar, and who writes his music as well. He is, all around, an excellent musician. I recommend this particular CD highly. Some of his earlier ones I was not as big of a fan, but he is growing and maturing in his music. I plan to see him again on June 8 at Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa. I am sure it will be an awesome concert.

If Larson's career wasn't exactly stellar, you wouldn't guess it from this collection of tunes from Larson's 4 pop albums, 2 country albums and 1 children's lullabies album [and her appearance on the soundtrack of "Arthur"]. Best known for her 1978 smash "Lotta Love," Nicolette more or less faded from view after that but still put out some great recordings. For the Nicolette fan, this album is a must-have if only because it contains a bonus track of a long, lightly disco-fied version of "Lotta Love" [well, long might not be a good word for it, because the song clocks in at about 4 1/2 minutes]. All others will be surprised by some great songs and may even wonder after listening how exactly Nicolette failed to stay on the charts in any meaningful way after the success of her first album and single. And ... Read More

This Capitol album, you're for me is a classic early Buck Owens recording without the help of his famous Buckeroos. This features the all time great Ralph Mooney on steel,Mooney on a few early Owens recordings and Buck's right arm comrade Don Rich on fiddle on a couple songs. As this Sundazed cd kicks off with the title song,You're For Me,a quick upbeat tune, the music never stops with Buck at the top of his game wailing one melodie after another, this is classic Buck at his very best,a honky tonk extravaganza.

This movie went straight to Video. After all, how many Burt Reynolds gambling films have there been? The song collection is much further up the scale however, mostly being country flavored rock and ballad tunes. Barry Gibb does a strange twist to hard-core country rock with his offering (even though only about one minute of it is in the movie). "Life Is Beautiful" is a nice John Mellencamp style take with "Enough" being more on the par with ZZ Top. "Breathe" is a strange contribution as it sounds like a Destiny's Child album cut and the nicely done "Freedom" harkens back to the Neil Diamond period. A nice collection to a mediocre film.

2. Drown On The River - Barry Gibb Listen Listen
