I love the movie itself and I loved the soundtrack when I was watching the movie for the first time.. It is greatly done but the only problem is that the length of the scores are less than you can imagine.. You start to feel the music but it will end soon. If you have programs that you can add musics together, you can do this with it and make the length longer..

This is one of the wittiest CDs that I have ever heard. Breiner very successfully finds baroque elements in music where a non-composer's ear would never pick them out. Would you have noticed the similarities between "Michelle" and the main subject of "Die Kunst der Fuge"? Buy it.

The film sweet sweetback was cinematic garbage.... Don't Play Us Cheap as a film is too strange for a lot of people. But the music from both films are great! I strongly recommend this as Van Peebles was a better composer than he was a director.

This is not a cheezy show tunes album. In fact, I wonder how a show was performed around this soundtrack. I heard this on vinyl recently and HAD to get it as a gift for my father. The vocalist on the first track "Your Tore Up the Clothes In the Closet of My Dreams" will blow your mind because you can really just feel it. Vocal tracks and jazz tunes are superbly combined for a listening experience that even someone who is not particularly enthusiastic about jazz can enjoy. Definately worth checking out. Not sure about the sound quality of the CD as I have yet to hear it. But just crank it, for the first track at least, and enjoy.
