Caruso appears to have been a bit of an acquired taste- one that I certainly have acquired somewhere. In his voice one can hear true warmth and lyric beauty. He also had power, which allowed him to shine in such a role as Rodolfo. Similarly the other tracks on this CD are very fine, demonstrating an all round capability that few posess and that make singling out arias for praise very difficult. Of course the problem of sound quality remains, but it is not so bad as to to prevent you enjoying this legendary voice.

If you love opera you might like this, but I was looking for something like the Sara Brightman album where she sings with Cura, and they were wonderful together, or the Andrea Boceli album where Andrea sings with Sara Brightman and some pop stars. I like some opera but not so much that I enjoyed this. I fell in love with Cura's voice when he sang with Brightman on her CD, so I tried to find something like that in the CD's Cura has made. I sure picked the wrong one. I gave it three stars for his voice, but not for the compilations.
