How do you review an album that's not meant to be taken seriously on almost any level that is the soundtrack of a movie that was a comedy full of in jokes about hard rock and metal? Answer? With great difficulty. So here is a brief run down of what you get;

Jack Black and Kyle Gass basically spend a lot of time twanging acoustic guitars in a plentiful supply of acoustic tracks with vocals delivered by Black in a nicely produced work where it's actually important to hear the lyrics. The album basically follows the course of the film and a number of the tunes like ....well like a bunch of them don't really make a lot of sense taken out of that context. So you really need to see the film dudes. But other parts of the disc do work even if you've yet to catch a look at the film, like ... Read More

This album is filled with fantastic songs. The only catch is that you actually have to listen to the words to get the full effect.

My favorites:
1. Two Wanderers -- Transports you to a scorching mexican road, and then to paradise (for awhile).
2. Idiots at the wheel -- self-explanatory, always makes me smile.
3. We watched you go -- every time I hear this song it takes me back in time to that 4th grade classroom where I watched the Challenger accident live along with my whole class.
4. Gaia: A love song -- This song provides a very soothing beat, the lyrics roll along smoothly.

Overall, this album is one of my favorite "long drive" albums, for its calming effect.

When I first heard this CD, I loved it from the get go. The music is very hypnotic, while at the same time it infuses you with a lightening bolt of high powered trance trip'n. This makes an excellent medium for visualization (the internal kind, not the video kind), meditation, and just trancing out. Oh yeah, and dance. Dance, dance, and dance to this badboy. Even at 56 years old, I can feel the electric current going through me like I was made of copper. Did I mention it's downright sensuous too...oooeee baby, it sure'nuff is.

This album is fantastic. Having listened to goth music for a very long time and generally being disappointed with a lot of the newer music that is coming out, I have to say that I have never heard anything like this before. I can listen to this album over and over again and not tire of it...in fact I do have other Attrition albums but this one always seems to be the one that I select. It is truly a masterpiece and a great addition to any experimental/dark/oddball collection.
