Ever hear a computer have an orgasm? A coffeemaker's heart giving out? God's TV set having a "hellishly introspective nightmare"?

Me neither. But this album's pretty neat. Lots of strange electric beeps and grunts and squeals feeding back on and off each other for about an hour. No substitute for Barry White if you're looking for music to boink to, but at least your neighbors will wonder what the hell you're up to.

It ain't hummable. You'll never hear it on the radio. Good luck dancing to it. Your parents will finally be justified in the opinion that what you call "music" is actually "noise". But at least it's really FUN noise.

Reviewing this CD is much like throwing a bottled messege into the Pacific. Or, how would one run something up the flagpole if the pole were in the space between Saturn and Uranus? Which is part of the reason I'm doing it.

This music is so wonderfully creepy. But it's a kind of creepiness analogous to an old mossy shack inhabited by a hermit at the edge of a forgotten swamp. After a while it's sort of soothing. Makes you want a long swig of 'shine to go along with the panfried fish in your lap.

The content of the music? We're definitely not in Kansas anymore.

one of my favorite bands of all time. i think if you dont like them i wouldnt like you and you are a moron. Megalomania is my favorite song ever written, If you are an athiest punkrocker you will love that song and this band. They are a mixter of dash Uk82 with and dash of OI! Just a flat out great punkrock band. in the vien of Blitz, Partisans, Mau Maus.

I can't believe this is available on amazon.com. Well, at the moment there's none for sale. But the band will sell you one directly at hates.com This is the band doing a Redux album, covering all their best songs since 1978. Christian Arnheiter has been the main guy/guitarist/vocalist in this band since their inception, inspired by seeing the SEX PISTOLS in Texas in 1978.

The HATES' first 3 7" records have a bit of a slower sound than the rest of their releases. Don't confuse that with not as high quality. Those records still sound great and they cover several of those songs on this disc, only faster. In fact, if you get a chance to see them live (they rarely play outside of Houston, their home town. I was privileged to organize, all by e-mail, their first tour of more ... Read More

This CD came out during serious band strife and appeared to be the last Screeching Weasel disk until the band reformed later on and continued putting out great punk rock. What's really interesting about this disk is that Mike Dirnt (Green Day's bassist) helped out and played bass on this record. When bands are in the midst of falling apart, often times the product they put out is sub par however How To Make Enemies was a surprisingly strong effort filled with great song after great song.
