The society may have been insufferable, but the theaters were grand. The 19th century wasn't much in the way of social justice, but by golly don't you think they had more fun? Gilbert and Sullivan have never meant much to me, but Mike Leigh's movie persuaded me that I had been missing a lot. This CD captures the music; be sure to catch the DVD of this extraordinary film. The film director's recreation of Victorian England, as seen in the Savoy Theatre (front and backstage) and in the respective studies of Gilbert and Sullivan, from which their works of genius issued, constitutes artistry worthy of identification as a National Treasure. The music lives forever.

This is the first true hipp hop or rap album I've heard in years! It's such a relief to know that there are still some REAL artist out there besides the mainstream "I'll say anything you wanna hear" artist that have flooded the music industry. This album deals with every day life and really tells it how it is. For every one who's into the underground rap scene this is the album to get. It's got club beats and laid back parlay tracks. It's a CD you can play all the way through and not touch the skip button. This is a true representation of the Dirty South!

"He completely destroyed KRS-One in the QB / South Bronx beef back in the days but since Mr. Parker never replied Poet never got the full recognition he deserved." ??????????? i think not. KRS is a real emcee on a level much higer than poet. he remixed Im still number one in 88 and destroyed Poet on the track. . Poet is a lyrical emcee and this cd is on point even though the composition is somewhat at times 2 dimensional only..... i am glad they (KRS one and Poet) came together on the hip hop lives cd to make a track. peace Samir, Base, C wiz, talib, the Hip Hop nation and the Gods and Earths.
