This CD features Louis Prima with his New Orleans gang, and this particular collection seems to have been issued frequently under different titles (my copy actually has a "Rhythm Man" jacket but a different album title on the disc!).

Prima had not yet ventured into novelty material or ethnic specialties when these songs were recorded circa 1934-35. Prima's dixieland gang plays hot jazz almost exclusively, with only occasional excursions into melancholy material. The lineup includes some big-league jazzmen in their salad days, including Nappy Lamare, Claude Thornhill, George Brunies, Stan King, Eddie Miller, and George Van Eps. Prima leads with his trumpet and contributes vocally to all but one of the 22 cuts.

Prima's vocals are mostly incidental because the emphasis ... Read More

This is probably one of the best Miles Davis compilations I've ever heard. It's nice and mellow but not boring. The songs on the albums date from 1956-1967;a period when Miles was a major influence on his horn and in jazz. While probably not an essential album to have, it's a good set of tunes that every type of jazz listener can get into.

all great songs. in my opinion Harry sings way better than Frank Sinatra.

Was delightfully suprised by this album. I've always admired both men, but the two of them together brings back a feeling to music that has been missing.

I've been a fan of Carlos Franzetti's work as a composer, arranger and pianist for years. What I discovered from listening to this CD is that he's a great singer, too! Beautifully sung and impeccably played, he breathes new life into the songs he has chosen. Ed Uribe and Karl Kaminski do a great job on drums and bass, too. I hope Carlos Franzetti continues to make more recordings in this genre as this one is destined to become a jazz classic.
