When I first saw the film, I was too put off by the occasional grossness, but I was still pulled in and through the darkest plot by the hauntingly beautiful music. When I saw the film again, I realized that the film is darker and the music even more gripping than I first believed ... especially after a recent trip to Florence Italy which provides a central locale for much of the plot. The sounds hold the fabric of the film together. On a few tracks, Hannibal's narratives -- powerful in their commanding tones -- provide depth to the music. The final piece, based on Dante's La Vita Nuova, is worth the purchase of the CD itself. The album plays well, many times over. Hannibal's measured, polite evil is uniquely reflected through the tracks. I will rotate it through my playlist every few ... Read More
