There are no words for how wonderful this cd is. The voices are richly pure and beautiful. Each song seems to have a story to tell and one can really feel different through the cds as if living in an entirely different place through the many songs. If you love Balligomingo and are missing their music-in a sore need of a new cd, this cd will fill that empty void.

My manager had a copy of this CD that we would play continuously at work. Finally, I did some research as to what the CD was and immediately bought myself a copy! She has since switched offices and I continue to play mine in the music shuffle to help get me through the work day! Clients like it too...I have had some people actually bobbing their head to the beats! Great variety of artists, some I never heard of before, but after listening and discovering these artists it made me want more of the Cafe Del Mar series! SOOOOO worth the CD if you are a music lover.

From the OBJECTIVE reviewer...Beth has a unique voice...kudos...and this album highlights perfectly her folk sensibility with the touch of electronic influence she probably picked up from William Orbit.

These guys know how to produce a good electronic music record, with good musical ideas, good moods and a good overall sound ; they did it well for this record especially.

Whoa Nelly! was one of the very first CDs I bought when I got my first CD car stereo in my little blue Escort; I had loved the song "Turn Out The Lights" which I had heard on a magazine compilation. By the time I knew all the songs her real single hit the airwaves "I'm Like A Bird" and she was every where and the CD was put to rest.

Now that she's all promiscuous with Timbaland, I thought I'd revisit the CD that made me a fan and wonder what went wrong with the girl. From the debut album I would never have seen her heading to the trip hop slutty imagery she's so happy carrying now, back then she was actually taking real chances by using her voice and some strange effects to create a new world of music; using bared soul for lyrics despite how young or ill effected that soul was; the songs ... Really disappointed. The 20 second preview of the songs sounded better than the full versions. Thought it would be a little more upbeat instead the majority of the songs are real mellow. For the most part, it sounds like a bad soundtrack.

Although the production is impressive and on point, this album lacks character and direction. It almost feels more like a random compilation of tracks that never really goes anywhere or says anything. They evidently tried to emulate some current club and dance music styles, but it somehow feels forced. Do It Again could be a decent late 2000s house/techno anthem if it weren't for the cheap, horribly annoying "paint my face and bang my drum" bridge section, which sounds lazy and throws the whole song out of character. This sort of thing happens with most of the songs. Three stars for the edgy, talented audio production, but that's about it. Sorry guys.

Not so much a review as a heads up... There is an (in my opinion) amazing post-rock band from Japan called Mono. This is not their music. This Mono is a Euro-house/ downtempo outfit. As the Japanese band is far more critically acclaimed, it is likely people may come here and see this album and think it is by "the" Mono. It isn't. If you want '90s cheese-pop with an electronic sound, this is the band far you. If you want the actual band Mono, keep searching.
