I'll admit, I have never been too big of a fan of Bjork. I mean, I like a lot of her work, but not enough to consider myself a fan or an avid listener. I always feel like her albums are good, or sometimes even great, so I always buy just one more in the hopes that it will trump the last one I listened to. I now own four Bjork albums, and I think I was easily the most disappointed with Volta. In fact, I'd say this is the biggest disappointment of the year so far. And it's not like I dislike Bjork, once again. Homogenic and Vespertine are both great albums that I really like a lot, and in comparison to those, Bjork has taken a creative nosedive into oblivion.

I feel like XRTs "Regaler Guy" here, because my vocabulary is somewhat limited and my tone is very blatant. But I won't lie ... Read More

Approaching the catalog of an artist as prestigious as Bjork is very difficult, and at first glance new listeners would want to stray from Homogenic in exchange for an album where she looks prettier on the cover. But this album is definitely one of her most serious, moving works and should be an eventual purchase for even casual fans. For the record, this is generally argued to be her best album, and although it may not be easy to listen to at first, the album stands out as being great if you can manage to give it a bit of a chance to open up. From the beginning dynamics of Hunter to the final touching words of All Is Full of Love, most everything on this album is very good and melodies are used to their full potential. But while this album pushes Bjork's songwriting ability to impressive lengths, it ... Read More

I really like most of this CD. I have no real complaints about it except for the title track and another one by the same vocalist. The lyrics are ridiculously boring and simple. It's really painful to listen to.

Save for those two tracks, this album is quite good. Like Mezzanine, it's got style, class and talent. Spyglass and Karmacoma are especially good. I gave it 3 stars, but I really think it deserves 3.5.

Saturday Night Fever's John Travolta is suddenly transported through time into the future, where by a freak coincidence he fuses with Moby. Royksopp, named after the sound made when the two fused together, is like the Coors Light train roaring through town: chill, funky, and refreshing.

Ambient Compilations are far too common nowadays. Very easy to collect an album's worth of tracks at any given time thanks to the thriving Ibiza music scene (where Cafe del Mar lives). So what makes a great album different from an OK album. Generally just track selection, but a great album is usually mixed which none of the Cafe del Mar compilations are. Regardless they do put out some decent ambient/chillout albums, and after collecting a few, one can make their own favorite chillout mix.

This is the fifth installment of the still going strong series. Not bad, but not great. I can't consider any of the tracks as phenomenal, but I do think there are a couple of duds. "Tout Est Bleu" [Original Ame Strong S.A. Remix] and "Talking With Myself" '98 [Canny Remix] receive the dud awards for this album. ... Read More

Music Has the Right to Children's flow isn't as strong as Geogaddi's, but the quality tracks are present. The most trip-hop apparent full-length album by the duo. Key tracks are: roygbiv, Aqaurius, and Happy Cycling.
A lot of interlude tracks detract from an otherwise solid album. Some of the interlude tracks are extremely enjoyable though, see: Kaini Industries and Smokes Quantity.

The seller sent the CD as soon as was stated, and I received it in fine condition, with limited scratches as stated. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was it had been stated that I would receive the CD cover slip, although not in good condition. I did not receive the CD coverslip, it actually came in a thin case that usually holds burned CDs. The CD was not burned though, and it plays fine.

This was one of those albums that I heard one song off while driving late at night and had to dig around for a pen while driving to write down her name so I could go and buy the album the next day.

It is a quiet and beautiful album that is really touching, great to listen to loud with the lights turned down low. Check out the background sound at the start of the album which is the sound of a boat creaking against a dock. It has a real live sound to it as if you are just sitting in the room with her, a guitarist and an accordion player.

It reminds me a lot of Nick Drake's Pink Moon but without the depressing angle to it.

I find it to be a far superior album to her earlier Love In The Time Of Science as I think the earlier album suffers from trying to fill out her sound with a bit electronica ... Read More

One of CDM's best compilations - chilled & contemplative, but just enough variety to keep it interesting. It's hard to have a well-done CD w/o it either being too monotonous or too all-over-the-place. 'Volumen Seis' strikes the ideal balance.

The most notable tracks are the nonchalant, 'Distant Invitation' & 'Oh Home' featuring the emotional sounds of Ibiza legend, Cathy Battistessa.

I highly recommend this. If you're not familiar w/this genre or these compilations, 'Volumen Seis' & 'Cinco' are safe bets. Most excellent.
