This CD came up as an Amazon suggestion. I listened to the preview tracks and liked what I heard. Now that I've had the CD for about a month, I really like this disc. It's very pleasant. Emiliana has a wonderful voice. The songs are somewhat chillout like.

I think that if you like Dido, Beth Orton, Suzzane Vega, Sarah MacLaughlin, and Natalie Merchant (toss in a bit of Chillout); you will likely enjoy Emiliana. She was a very pleasant surprise to me. Not at all Bjork like.

One of the most beautiful Bjork albums. Sometimes an album represents a season, and this one is all about winter for me.

With Dummy, Portishead cemented their niche in the world of trip hop, and honestly had no obligations to carry out afterwards. Dummy was a fantastic album, good enough that even if the group had stopped there and made it a one time deal, the album would not have faded into obscurity. In any case, Portishead's early end has always felt slightly unrealized. Portishead only made two studio albums, one live album, and a few stray singles, b-sides, and rarities. It takes a very special band to be this appreciated with so little for fans to go on.

The self titled album has always been the overlooked one. Dummy was clearly the better album, and considering the band only really had two albums, that makes Portishead the bands worst album. This curse of relativity is unfortunate. The truth is, it's ... Read More

I bought this because I am a musician and composer in a small way and wanted to study the bass, drums an loops. This was helpful for this but I also found it was very entertaining and satisfying listening as long as you are happy will loops. It was an excellent sound and very well produced.

Discovered on an Internet radio. I love the "dynamics" rythms.
Some songs make me remind of west indies sounds.

BLACK CHERRY is one of those rare albums where I initially didn't care for it but later on in life loves it. I first discovered Golfrapp through television. FELT MOUNTAIN is one of my personal favorite trip hop albums of all time. I loved the lush, orchestral melodies of the album. So when the time came for Goldfrapp to release their follow up album BLACK CHERRY, I wasn't too keen on the group's sudden change in their sound from trip hop to electro-clash.

After falling in love with the group's music again with SEVENTH TREE, I decided to check out BLACK CHERRY again. This time time around I have learned to appreciate and love BLACK CHERRY. BC is definitely a precursor to their next album SUPERNATURE with their mix of catchy electro-pop songs as well as SEVENTH TREE with the more laid back trip hop songs. I am ... Read More

Nitin Sawhney simply doesn't make bad albums.
Just as the British/Asian musician is equally comfortable as a producer, DJ, classical composer and writer, he is also well versed in just about every musical style from around the globe.
"London Undersound", his eighth studio album, may contain some controversial elements and observations, but it's never less than an enthralling listen that showcases some incredible talent and a lot of thought-provoking sentiment.
Sawhney himself describes it as "a collection of thoughts, ideas, feelings and catharsis in a city of immense diversity, imagination and beliefs", attempting to put into words the "threatening and insidious" atmosphere that he believes has enveloped London since the 9/11 and 7/7 attacks.
A beguiling mix of electronica, jazz and world music from ... Read More

Elisa has a wonderful voice and fabulous potential. The song "dancing" is a great example of her talent, but the album as a whole is still missing something.

Granted, not all songs are expected to be as great as "dancing", but there is a dull redundancy in this album's collection. I hope this talent will be nurtured more and perhaps gets a bit luckier in the future.
