Most of Alan Jackson's albums include a lot of original songs with the occasional cover. This album is different, entirely focusing on covers. This gave Alan the chance to illustrate some of his musical influences, including Merle Haggard (My own kind of hat, The way I am), John Anderson (She just started liking cheating songs), Hank Williams Junior (The blues man), Gene Watson (Farewell party), Don Williams (It must be love) Charley Pride (Kiss an angel good morning) and George Jones (Revenooer man, Once you've had the best). Right in the palm of your hand was originally recorded by Crystal Gayle and later covered by Mel Mc Daniel. It is Mel who gets Alan's credit - no mention is made in his comments about Crystal. George Jones on this live dvd has a lot of fire in his preformance,he shows how good a live show can be, the video quality is not that great but the audio quality is much better. Buy this dvd you want be disapointed.

Having discovered Loretta Lynn's talent a little late in my life I am delighted to say how much I enjoy this collection. The first Loretta cd I bought was Van Lear Rose from 2004 - and I am now hooked. I love the way that her songs tell a story. What a talented singer! I hope to hear some new music from this legendary performer again soon.

If you want to hear music that is from the heart and raw, then this CD is for you. I enjoy music that isn't tweaked to sound pretty or "top 40". This man has gone through some stuff and you hear it in his music. Also, he has influenced just about everyone of this genre of music. ALERT!!! There is an extended version of this CD out there so don't miss out on a few extra songs like I unfortunately did.

For Christmas I couldn't think of anything to get my step-dad, one day I got in his truck and he was listening to an old album of Hank Wms Sr so I started researching and decided that an old Merle Haggard CD might be the ticket. Merles early stuff is close to some of the Hank SR music. It worked our great. HE loved it.

I bought this CD for the title song. It is the same as in the movie "Rio Bravo" (my husband's favorite movie which we watch all the time). There is a strange intro by John Wayne but doesn't take away from the song, which seems to be cut off at the end just a few seconds too soon. I like several other selections, including the theme from "The Searchers". The others are OK with some that are strange. Why have Lorne Greene half/talk-half/sing the "Bonanza" theme? Just give me the real thing. The CD has songs you wouldn't find just anywhere and I like that. I really wanted the Dean Martin/Ricky Nelson title song and the CD was worth it to me.
