Rammstein has set the standard by which all future music DVDs will be measured. You get all their videos, some interesting interviews, and even a selection of live concert footage from shows other than their massive "Live Aus Berlin" project.

The sound and video quality are uniformly excellent. The production overall is terrific. My one issue is the somewhat annoying menu system. It's pretty cool the first few times you look at the DVD, but later when you just want to get to a specific video, you have to wait around for lengthy animations and such. It just takes a while to navigate. This is, however, a small complaint.

The sound and video quality of the live material is not quite as good. It looks more like a document of the show rather than an intentional DVD shooting. ... Read More

When I saw the other reviews featuring 3 stars, I became annoyed.

For me personally, this is an amazing album by one of the last standing giants of rock-progressive music.
Most of the people don't realize that the creation of music as you get older (specially after such a lengthy career, and so many incredible songwriting) the process of achieving something radically new becomes really difficult.
Yet they have amazed me again with Vapor Trails, a nicely produced album that sounds refreshing enough for a band that has been 30+ years in the business. The album musically is very tight, not too complicated, no overproduced but very clean and very well orchestrated.
It has a strong rhytmic presence, incredible powerful yet non invasive basslines, well executed vocals and ... Read More

This album by the Mars Volta is brilliant. The album starts with an energetic few tracks, and goes into a spacy jam of Cicatrez ESP. It ends quite abruptly feeling, but the ending leaves you satisfied. The story is about a man named Cerpin Taxt, who poisons himself, goes into a coma, has dreams about bizzare things, and then wakes up, and jumps off of a bridge. (Very dark sounding, I know.) The story is actually great when put into the song, and his story can be interpreted as you would like, and Cedric Bixler-Zavala definitely leaves alot of lyrics unexplained. Guest appearences include RHCP's John Frusciante for Cicatrez ESP, and RHCP's bassist Flea plays throughout. ATD-I band members make a step forward from the previous genre, paving a path of their own. If you are interested in the story, there ... Read More

I'm a very big fan of dream theater and this compilation was very very good, although i wanted a few songs instead of others but it's pretty cool how they remastered songs.

I really think it's time to stop whining about this album. Rust In peace is an unbelievable classic. This remaster, on the whole, sounds better than the original (as you'd expect with a remaster), and the new vocals couldn't be helped. Vocal track tapes went missing for certain songs, and so alternate takes from 1990 were used for the songs Five Magics and Lucretia, and Take No Prisoners had to be resung. Considering the 14 year gap between the original recording of RIP and the resung vocals on TNP, Dave Mustaine's 2004 vocals on the track stand up very well. Whether you like these alternate vocals or not is down to the individual, but surely it's time to stop moaning about something that just couldn't be helped. The remastering and remixing of these albums was a great job, and the remasters are the ones i listen ... Read More

TRACK SYNOPSIS

1. Aberinkula: Cedric's has been converted by the Beegee school of singing, Tetragrammaton is here to stay. The last 3mins are very funky, but it sounds much too similar to Asclepius.

2. ORL has stated in interviews that ALL their songs follow the basic 'pop' structure: it becomes obvious here to the detriment of the song, since this happens to be one of their strongest longer pieces despite itself.

3. 1 trick l'via pony that the Mars Volta has become. Sure to become a dance club favorite, great lyrics; the only rhythmically engaging track besides Agadez on the whole album. Again, the rhythm section makes this band now.

4. Wax Simalcra. A great single. Makes the rest of the album sound like a B side (it is, in a sense, given the production 'problems' surrounding ... Read More

Having been a casual Rush fan since 1980 or so, I thought that I would give this group a try and generally liked what I heard. In fact, I was surprised that I liked Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory (1999) as much as I did - I am far removed from being a heavy metal fan and prefer the "artier" sound of progressive rock. The overall sound on this album nods in the direction of Rush, Styx, Metallica, and Queensryche, yet sounds very contemporary. Above all else however, it is played at a breakneck tempo and with a sophistication that I have not heard in heavy metal since listening to my old Rush records. Indeed, this is a fine example of progressive metal.

The lineup on this album includes three former Berklee College of Music (Boston, Massachusetts) students: John Petrucci (electric and acoustic guitars); John Myung ... Read More

OK, we all know this guy is the guitar soul of Billy what's his name's early albums. He makes great guitar noises and squeals. But, this album is way deeper than that. This album simply rocks. Listen to it and you won't be able to sit still.

His musical influences are all over the map. Robin Trower, Jeff Beck, Mason Williams, greasy slide guitar, twangy steel, flamenco, all smashed together in driving Rock and Roll.

What are you waiting for? Just buy the album and get your Stone Groove on.
