I found this cd when my brother was moving out of his apartment and it fell out of one of this boxes. He said I could have it so then after moving my brother into his new house I poped this cd into my car and not knowing what it would it be it turned the volume down but having it at a point where I could listen to what their saying. The song Anarchy-X was one of the greatest songs without people singing. Then the song after it was the greatest song I ever heard. While listening to the album I couldn't beileve that this album was made in 1988!

Great Buy For headbangers!!!

After just a first listen (which isn't really enough for forming a strong opinion) I will say that this album is excellent; just what I was expecting, based on other reviews and on the fact that I own (and love) _The Heart of Everything_. I'll update this portion of my review at a later date.

What I write to share with you now is a word about copy-protection. I think the key may be in not installing the software that is included on the CD. My computer gave me a message saying something like "some files will need to be added, do you wish to continue?" and I said no. Then I proceeded to open Audiograbber (v 1.82) and rip all the tracks from the CD for encoding to mp3 (well, ogg vorbis, actually) for use on my Iriver Clix2. Then, just to see, I tried playing it with Windows Media Player and ... Read More

I have been a fan of Therion's for some time, but was skeptical of buying this album for two reasons: first that it was a live performance, second that all the music from this set has already been released on other albums. I went ahead and bought it - it has rapidly become one of my favorite albums.

-Despite being recorded live, the sound quality is not bad. Not on level with their studio recordings, but quite listenable. The crowd noise never drowns out the music, but the audience participation - shouting and singing along, encouraged by the vocalists - actually adds to the production. The performances are tight - this is a fabulous cast for Therion, and it's impressive that they can perform this virtuosically live.

-All of the songs have been recorded by Therion before, but these are different ... Read More

It was my favorite album when it was released. More than 15 years later, It is still my favorite album. Tonight He Grins Again, If I Go Away, and Believe are the highlights, but there is no filler on Streets. At the risk of repeating the numerous other reviews, this, in my opinion, is the greatest album ever written.

There is a whole dictionary filled with words that cannot accurately describe this complex and articulate musical achievement. Burst have created an instant classic and certainly one of the best albums of 2008 with "Lazarus Bird."

This albums climbs and twists in so many various themes and styles it could have easily been a mess. However, it more closely resembles fractal geometry with random patterns becoming a single beautiful image. This album ascends to a crescendo of musical aestheticism that has not been matched in a long time.

Balanced and forceful, "Lazarus Bird" starts with something simple but then explodes into an array of styles and dimensions. Your mind will never be the same. Beyond the rocking metal riffs are soft melodic interludes, intense mechanical guitar work and explosive vocals and percussion. ... Read More

The first thing I noticed is the production isn't what it is on any of the later albums...and even the songwriting is a bit different. But that's not a bad thing at all. Some albums you have to listen to a few times before they grow on you. Not the case here. Even though it is a bit different than later efforts, it grows you you quickly, like during the second song. There are a couple of slower songs I could have done without but there are also songs that you shouldn't be without if you're any bit of a Kamelot fan.

First time listeners should probably check out The Black Halo, Epica, One Cold Winter's Night and even Ghost Opera. But if you have all of those and are looking to add to your collection, don't hesitate to pick this up, you won't be disappointed at all.

One of the best metal albums I have bought in a few years, totally non commercial, not poppy, metal at it's finest. Very unique sound, so much so that I can't really compare Mastodon to anyone else. I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes metal and/or hard rock.

I have been following Andromeda loosely since their first release, Extension of the Wish. And frankly, I have always considered them to be on the lower-tier of professional prog metal (along with bands like Vanden Plas, Spiral Architect, Redemption, Serenity, etc...). The common problem with all of these European "progressive metal" bands is not the musicianship, but the vocals the songwriting. So I have always considered myself a semi-Andromeda fan for this reason: decent instrumentals, horrible vocals. I feel this way about each of their first three albums.

But with their latest release, "The Immunity Zone," it seems as if Andromeda has finally decided to pick up the slack and prove themselves as the capable band that they truly are. The first good move on their part was ridding themselves of their old singer, and recruiting David ... Read More
