I ordered this CD, the 30th Anniversary DVD, the original Broadway soundtrack along with the MGM DVD (reviewed) and Tin Man DVD earlier this year. This CD pack of course has the songs from the movie, only here some of them have a bit more time and more space to play out, most notably the Overture pt 1. It also has another song not in the movie, and a few little changes: Instead of the music where Dorothy and Toto (who didn't accompany Dorothy to Oz in the Original Broadway!) are whisked away by the tornado with the dramatic exciting tune - we instead get "Glinda's Theme", which is good but also a let down as I like that scoring of the blizzard. A more intimate & non-traditional collection of songs. Without a doubt, Frosty's Rag being the best song on the album. Very soulful & enjoyable.

Fans and foes alike might be surprised that there are people on earth who are in neither camp. Somewhere between those melisma-crazed fans who consider her the ultimate diva and those who dismiss her as "Pariah Scary" are the rest of us who may like this song and dislike that one. I for one have always liked "Vision of Love," and might have at one time called it a "guilty pleasure." Nowadays I've gotten so old and ornery that don't label ANY pleasure a guilty one. It is, admittedly however, one of the few titles of hers that I could rattle off from memory. No surprise there, I suppose. I remember this album when I was in the 8th grade. This record is soulful and modern. With this album, she has defiened the highest creative potential of music. She fuses the jazz, R&B and hip-hop influences of a lifetime, not only with her voice, but with many talents. Deeply spiritual and rhythmically banging, uplifting yet grounded, sensitive and sensual, it is one more example of the multi-faceted expression we fans value in her. This album reflects a "re-invention" in the calculatedly self-consicous, marketing-driven sense that Hollywood might use the term but quite simply, growth, evolution, and learning. This album has been certified Platinum. Remember, this was 2000.

Alicia Keys is one of those performers that comes off wonderfully on a CD as well as playing live. Her voice does not need to be altered for recording purposes. I have seen her in concert and she is a perfectionist. For anyone who has not had the pleasure of experiencing her in person this is as close as it gets. She is exceptional!

This album really has some bittersweet memories. I love the year 1995 and this album is one of the reasons why. One Sweet Day, Always Be My Baby, and FANTASY are all memorable to me. It makes me think of my childhood. i really do miss the 90s. I definately recommend this album to any new fans. It's the best. 1. Fantasy-i love the sample of tom tom club. it brings really good memories especially the video. It shows a very happy Mariah having a good time. 5/5 2.
