Great album, very danceable songs, great in clubs, fun songs, makes you happy! Music for me is something that cheers me up I dont need them to sing about serious issues. I'm not from this country originally and back then I didnt even understand a word that they were saying but still fell in love with them! Now I do understand the lyrics, yes it is not deep but who cares? It suppose to entertain and make you feel good!

New Kids had a few cuts I dug back in the day. hangin tough was cool, the right stuff was also cool, but I liked tonight with the Whimsical musical arrangements.step by step was on point as well. i think they always had well Produced tracks until after the early 90's. it will be interesting to hear what they got coming on down this time around and I look toward hearing that track they did with New Edtion.

There's one thing you can count on with Madonna - there's new music always coming down the pipeline, and every CD is different. This one isn't going to be one for the ages. Overall, it's a decent album. It's not anything revolutionary or an attempt to kick the industry in the behind, like "Confessions..." and "Ray of Light" were. But it's different from the last, in style and tempo, so she's holding true to form. "4 Minutes" didn't seem to get as much top 40 fanfare as I thought and that might have been a sign that the entire album isn't going to be well received. I'm intrigued. I have put myself into the position of responsibility to purchase a wide range of music that I might not otherwise be familiar with, and Kala is just such a purchase. Quite honestly, I love her accent, and I love her quirky sense of style and artistic chaos. And that translates to the music. The irony being that the music is so "happy" and up-beat, and contrary to the opinion of another (obviously rhythmically challenged) reviewer, it is incredibly dance-able. In fact, if you do not move, then you either detest the music, or you have no sense of rhythm. From the perspective of a musician and a bit of a "purist", the concept of sampling is a turn-off to me. Well this CD is not all that bad but the songs tend to have the same melody without little variation but if you like that kind of pop/rock. I tend to call these type of recordings pop/rock because the vocals sound more like a pop song but the music is more rockish. I am not really into this type of sound but I can relate but she is no Avril Lavine but her music could be compared to artist in that catagory.

You have to hand it to Madonna, she's a marketing genius! Proving once again that what you lose on the swings you gain on the round-a-bouts, this "Girlie Show" inspired maxi-single serves up 8 mouth-wateringly delicious remixes, all of which re-interpret the pomp and pageantry of "Give It To Me" in a completely different way! You would be hard-pushed not to find something to your liking here! Detractors will find fault, of course, but you don't last 25 years in the harsh music industry without learning a thing or two about how to please your audience and corner the market! An astute business move indeed!

ALL the "Very Best" are really on this CD. ALL FUNK and no junk. Prince is the rare "jewel" in the crown of my music collection!!!

Also heard it on NPR and discovered it. It's a brilliant album, cover-to-cover, one of the true ones you can listen to in order and just sit back and enjoy. It really has a theme and a progression. Beautiful stuff.

This is quite possibly the best album from Hathaway (counting even her collaboration with Sample). If you're in the mood for a Sade-type CD - consistent, smooth, nuanced and worthy of repeated listening, it doesn't get much better than this. My only reservation would be the CD artwork - it's as unexceptional as the album is sophisticated. This impeccable CD deserves a classier look.

I love this album. This album is just as good as her last one back in 2005. The album means emancipation = Mariah Carey to the second power. The music appeals to Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae(Cruise Control) and Gospel(I Wish You Well). On this album, She worked with The Dream, Jermaine Dupri, Will.i.am, Stargate, DJ Troomp, and C. "Tricky" Stewart. Her concentration is not on club-oriented dance tracks but on smooth, mid-tempo R&B that pulses with sexy glamour. Nothing on this album is a radical depature, but she gets better at making sexy, listenable, flawlessly crafted R&B. This album has been certified Platinum so far.
