The Who's Live At Leeds, recorded on February 14, 1970, is unquestionably deserving of its reputation as one of the greatest live recordings in rock 'n roll. One should put aside whatever reservations he or she might have about live albums and embrace it in all of its bombastic glory. As rightfully skeptical as one should be of a live album as an introduction to a band, however, Live At Leeds might be the best disc in The Who's catalog to serve as such. True, more succinct and more comprehensive compilations are available, but Live At Leeds - released the year prior to the masterpiece Who's Next and the compilation Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy - contains hits, covers, and epics. Plus, at the time the album was recorded, The Who had one foot on either side of the dividing line between their early ... Read More

This CD has a lot of their classics in a live version. It's very good including Take It Easy and Desperado, which I particularly liked live. I wish there were more DTS audio discs out there.

This stands the test of time and is truly one if not the best live album ever made. With a mix of the overall genre of Rock music Frampton captures the mood of the seventy's perfectly.
His use of the voice box and the guitar solos is forever captured when he was at his prime with this record.
What can i say, I love it!

ranks right up there with live At Leeds as a best ever live release. Marriott sings with an over the top demented passion while overheated Marshalls happily distort the blues and R&B into an almost mettallic kick in the pants. This was the top dog back in the 70's...and it holds up just as well today...an absolute classic. Frampton should be ashamed of leaving this band...$$$ aint everything....

This cd is worthy of its reputation, and is the last great recording by Eric Clapton. "Malted Milk", "Walkin' Blues", "Layla", which he was able to successfully alter to fit an acoustic setting, "Nobody Know You When You're Down & Out", the classic made famous by Bessie Smith and later covered by an aged Scrapper Blackwell, and "Tears In Heaven", are all exceptionally great tracks. "Hey Hey" is not one of Broonzy's better songs, so I'm not sure why Clapton chose to record it. "Old Love" is mediocre, but "Running On Faith" is wonderfully done. This disc would have been even better if Clapton would have performed the material solo, much like the legendary Bluesmen he so greatly admired used to do, day in and day out. However, he has admitted in interviews that he is not a good enough musician to ... Read More

Live albums. Some artists shine. The live recordings show why they are so popular when they hit the road. Others should run screaming when their record label or their manager suggests a live project! Springsteen is one of the former. He and his band have always had a reputation as a killer live act. Live 1975-1985 shows that their reputation is well deserved.

By the time these cds were released just before Xmas, 1986, Springsteen had made seven records, including one double. This is sixteen sides of music. Each was a classic. There are about forty songs on this live collection. If you subtract five non-Springsteen songs we are left with thirty-five live songs. That would be about two songs for each LP side! Thus, these three discs should contain la crème de la crème. Discs one and two certainly ... Read More

Yes there are moments on this recording that will make you wince or smile. It depends on your perspective. But there are other times (deep in jams of 'Carry On' or 'Southern Man') where these creative minds mesh and it is a wonder to behold. A second or 2, as the songs end, a pause as if the audience's jaws have to close before they can voice their approval. And it's easy to visualize the grins flashing between band members as the sonic dust clears. In my opinion, get this, Allman's 'live at the fillmore', and Stones 'get yer yaya's out', and you would have a pretty good idea of how live rock oughta be. Whatever the decade!

If you are a Bob Seger fan, then you must own this album. It is probably one of the greatest live albums ever recorded. Many say he and the band sound better live than on any studio recording. Great cd, great songs, its hard to beat.

In my opinion this is the definitive live album from the greatest rock band of all time. I would say this is Zeppelin in their prime, but after seeing footage of their 02 Arena reunion in December '07 it appears that they've never left their prime. Needless to say, this collection is fantastic from beginning to end. From the extended guitar solo on the Immigrant Song to the extended jam on Whole lotta love, this album delivers. If you want Zeppelin baby then you've got it!
