Don't let the 3 star rating fool you. I love Radiohead. In fact, I think a few songs on here are among my favorite of their whole discography. However, I can't quite say the same over the majority of the album. To me as more of a listener, I don't try exploring all the little nooks and crannies of albums a lot of times and, perhaps and probably, as a result, I really couldn't and still can't see the massive appeal this album brings. Is it junk? Hardly. But I don't believe it deserves the massive reputation it has. Take my opinion with a grain of salt, though. Radiohead is a strongly developed and acquired taste. Running up and down hills can make your legs tire real fast. There is no doubt that water will help this. So you drink until you feel like you might get sick, like on an airplane when it aborts a landing. As you jog by images of your forgotten past and piles of garbage, you cannot remember what her name was. Rose? Or was that her sister? If you have ever changed your mind, or played piano, or been to Spain, or felt the sting of childhood (or adulthood) abandonment, this album is for you.

Is there any question that pretty much any album Butch Vig got his hands on in the early 90's was a major success? I used to attribute the success of this album, along with others, to the bands that played the music. But really, it would seem it was Butch Vig's involvement that really produced the popular sound of early 90's alternative rock. The heavy use of the Big Muff and other vintage 70's effects such as the Mu-Tron Bi-Phase...all of this contributed to some hugely successful albums. As soon as the Smashing Pumpkins changed producers, their popularity diminished, and their sound changed. This album really represents great studio work, and an understanding of what simply sounds good. Vintage analog effects will always surpass modern digital equivalents.

This album really is not sincere Coldplay. This is a departure from what they truly are as musicians. I recently saw them on tour here in Phoenix, I must say i was disappointed. The X&Y tour was much better, much more impressive very powerful and memorable. I vaguely remember the Viva la Vida show I just saw, that's what kind of an impression it left on me. The album itself does not grab me at all and lacks the power of the previous three. I hope that Chris Martin and the Boys wake up and are true to themselves. It is not worth alienating longevity or true fans to please a few critics. If you are new to Coldplay before buying this album listen to Parachutes, Rush of Blood to the Head and X&Y first so you have an idea of what Coldplay REALLY sounds like when they are themselves.

This is the best album cover ever in rock and roll history as far as I'm concerned, the music inside is just gravy. Nothing could top OK Computer, so Radiohead didn't even try - they very wisely went in a completely different direction into almost another genre altogether. OK Computer is basically a straight up rock record but Kid A is pretty much electronic music. The first song, "Everything in it's Right Place" is one of the best in Radiohead's live set - it sounds much better live is what I'm trying to say - but the studio version is still very captivating, especially with good speakers. "How To Disappear Completely" almost matches the intensity of "Exit Music" from the previous record. it is SO cool to own LPs.. Specially if it is from The Killers. The actual disc is a picture. Amazing. recommended.

With the cure framework beautifully in place this stripped-down, elegantly executed album is the best in many years from this band. Their previous couple of albums had Robert Smith in top artistic form but the density washed out the execution to some extent. Bloodflowers was great but the beauty of a Cure song has always been in its simplicity and top to bottom every song on 4:13 is pure pop goth beautiful. One great song after another. This was the first album I heard for radiohead, so I went and bought all the other albums expecting them to be the same style as this one, I was disappointed. All the other albums were a bit weird and no where near this one. So I advise you if your new to this band make this album be the first.
