This CD is full of wonderful country songs. My two favorites are #8 "Down Home" and #10 "Give Me One More Shot".

"Down Home" - Even though these guys are talking about their home in Alabama, it reminds me of my own country home. It is a beautiful country song.

"Give Me One More Shot" - (They are talking about a shot of life - not a shot of whiskey.) This song is upbeat, positive, and encouraging. It gives a wonderful message. I love it - both the words and the music.

"The Fans" (#13) literally gives me goose bumps. It is a beautiful, sweet, touching song. Another goose bumper is #20, "My Home's In Alabama".

There are so many other wonderful country songs on this CD, such as "Christmas in Dixie", "Song of the South", "High Cotton", and ... Read More

Lyle Lovett, to the casual observer, is considered a country-singer. To the more-than-casual observer, he is considered an alternative-country-singer. To the hardcore followers, our description is as follows: "He's a little bit of everything." He definetely has roots in country, but he also has roots and the love for the blues, jazz, and folk-music.

And this live record serves as proof. If you listen to the songs, such as "Here I Am", you can easily see that, despite the big-band arrangement, it could still very well be done in a true-blue country format if he wanted to.

Some take joy in makming fun of Lovett, calling him a "hipster country/cowboy wannabe". Except for the "wannabe" part, I believe Lovett should be referred - in a good way, mind you - as a cowboy/country ... Read More

If you've ever seen Dwight live he puts on a fantastic show. I rarely like live albums, but I do this one. Well worth the money and adding to your collection. Some great cuts on a wide variety of songs, that showcase Dwight's talent.

Music : Gonna Have a Party...Live
Since several of the tracks seem to be duplicates of 1988's "Live," only the true completist would call this a must-have. The Jeff Cook-fronted "Takin' Care of Business," however, is an unexpected surprise, showing the group's versatility and Cook's strength as a frontman. That and the well-done "Green River" make this CD a worthwhile purchase if one can get it at a good price.

I never saw the play, but as a long time Patsy Cline fan, I finally picked up this CD. I was familiar with the Louise Seger story from one of Patsy's biographies, and the monologues by Tere Myers are entertaining. But the real star of this CD is Mandy Barnett's amazing recreation of Patsy Cline.

Barnett has all of Patsy's vocal mannerisms down to a tee...her ability to vocally bear down during key parts of a song, the little "hiccups" applied to certain phrases and of course the yodeling and growling. But more importantly, the very sound of Barnett's voice is startingly close to Patsy's - that rounded quality and velvety feel. There are times on this CD when you would swear you were listening to a long-lost live recording of Patsy. One of the most convincing tracks is a lesser known Patsy ... Read More

This is a great CD! I just love it and listen to it over & over! I am a true Randy Travis fan and have most of his CDs. This one is one of his very best ones! It ranks right up there with You And You Alone as his best work to date! I just wish I could find it on cassette too. If you love to hear Randy sing you will want this in your collection!
