Ok the title is a bit silly since I don't tend to use FTW at all but having been an on again off again Metallica fan I have to say I would have paid full peice for this set of songs. Really enjoyed the range thay showed on this and I will probably go an pick up again my favorites from the past ...... I'm glad my girlfriend told me it was getting good press....and the fact it was 5 dollars at the time made it hard to pass up - price of a coffee and croissant cant beat that.... Really good worth it id you ever like the band

i find reviews very helpful when buying music, even though we all have our own taste...Anyways, i decided to buy this album, as i have no other BFMV albums, after hearing some of the songs on it and i absolutely love it! I am a "newer metal" music person, and this album fits that category for me, but still has the older metal influence. What an amazing band, and you will definately be please after getting this album! Every song on it is good! That makes a person happy when you buy an album and every song is good, how often does that happen? Well, there is maybe the slow one i don't care too much for, but every metal band has a ballad...Anyways, buy it, if you like this band!!! It is well worth it!!

It's almost twenty years after the black album came out. I was a rabid Metallica fan when this album first dropped (I was 14). At the time, I was extremely heartbroken. This was not the band that pressed the previous four albums (five counting "Garage Days"), all of which are still in my personal top ten of great heavy metal records. I have bought those four albums several times, on LP, cassette, and CD. I bought this album once, on cassette, almost two full decades ago. This isn't one that needs replacing. Not that it's a bad album. It's just a bad Metallica album. You went in expecting Kill Em All, Lightning, Puppets, and Justice, and instead you got "New Jersey" from Bon Jovi. Metallica may have artistically peaked with Master Of Puppets (or maybe Justice), but this is my favorite album by them. It balances the fiery rawness of the debut with the more complex arrangements found on Puppets to create one of metal's defining masterpieces. Anyone who's ever had even a passing interest in metal has owned this album at some point or another. It starts out with what is arguably Metallica's hardest hitting song of their career, Fight Fire With Fire (dig those drums, Lars!) and never lets up. The only real "break" we get is the semi-ballad Fade To Black, which is definitely one of the band's top five songs. The album culminates with the one-two punch of Creeping Death and Call Of Ktulu. To make clear, I am review the 2 LP reissue of Metallica's "...And Justice For All." This is the 4th in Metallica's current vinyl reissue project. Justice is one of my favorite Tallica albums of their great catalog. Song are heavy and meaty. Most of them about 8 minutes and longer. I won't take up a bunch of time reviewing the songs, because it's been done to death. These reissues have been great from the start and this continues the trend. All original artwork has been restored. The vinyl itself is very high quality and great care has been taken with the half speed mastering. If you want to here Metallica like never before, pick this and the other reissues up. You won't be disappointed!

Okay, couple things I need to get out of the way since this is a review of the vinyl version of this album. First, to enjoy this vinyl record fully, you NEED good equipment to play it on. I'm talking at or near audiophile-level hi-fi equipment, with the turntable being nothing less in build quality than something like a Technics SL-1200. That being said, it would have been real good if Metallica had re-mixed and re-mastered this album for re-issue on vinyl. The big problem I have with it is that James Hetfield's lyrics are a little too buried in the mix on most of the songs. One thing I will say too is be prepared to really turn up the volume to hear things really good. I usually don't get into the whole "growling" type of metal (death metal? I'm not sure). I can never understand the lyrics, and the growling usually interferes with the music. 5FDP has the growling, but it works really well. You can hear the lyrics clearly, and it definitely doesn't interfere with the actual music. The vocalist has a nice range, switching between growling and singing nicely. The music is a pure "punch" to the face. Oh my god. I haven't been this excited about a metal album in a long time. I'm 41 years old, and I had begun to think metal was dying out (again!). But there are some good upcoming bands out there, and 5FDP has to be in this group. My favorites: The Way of the Fist, The Bleeding, Can't Heal You, Never Enough. When I found out Metallica was doing an album of cover songs years ago, I was skeptical right away. How can a thrash metal/speed metal band make it believable and create versions that surpass the originals? Well, they couldn't. This is just really really bad. The entire collection. Two hours of cover songs, and every single one of them inferior to the original versions. The worst part is how many people went into this album probably not even aware of the original versions anyway, and just assumed "Well, it rocks, so Metallica's back!!" while completely ignoring how tasteless this collection of cover songs really is. Maybe it's the vocals that ruin the entire thing? Yeah, that's probably it.
