When I first bought this CD I knew that I would be pleased, in which I was. Come to think of it, there were quite a few songs that became newly favorites of mine, such as "Honey, Honey", "Angel eyes", "Under Attack", and "Thank you for the music" are very good. I thought ABBA Gold was inspirational, but this CD is impressive. From what I've learned the name of ABBA actually comes from the singers first initials themselves. As in the following: Anni-Frid Benny Bjorn Agnetha I recommend this album and music group to anyone, especially to those who are seeking good and decent music.

This was a well acted out music video; not just a stand up singer with a band. Absolute enjoyment.

Look at the dates on the reviews. I think only one review so far is about the remastered cd set - and it flags several problems with the remastering. There is no word on sound quality (otherwise) of the remastered disc (sometimes "remasters" sound about the same as the older cheaper discs). Reader beware.....

Classic Albums: Rio by Duran Duran is a fantastic look back at a pop music phenomenon that helped shape the 1980s MTV generation. As a fan of Duran Duran since the mid-1980s, I have always been interested to learn more about what Duran Duran did behind-the-scenes to write and produce their music. This documentary features new interviews with the band, their former managers, as well as other associates and musicians (Bob Geldof, for example). Older archive footage of the band is also used here. There are some nice behind-the-scenes glimpses at the making of their videos in Sri Lanka (Hungry Like the Wolf, Save A Prayer). Normally, I'd say this just one of upteen "Best of" CDs chronicling the many James Bond title songs. However, what makes this collection stand out is the inclusion of 'You Know My Name', the theme to 'Casino Royale', marking the first time the song has appeared on a Bond soundtrack. So, if you want all the title songs to every James Bond picture from Dr. No to Casino Royale, go buy this little jem of a release. You won't be disappointed.

See the two newest reviews (other than this one). The consensus seems to be that there is a major but quick flaw on the first disc and many problems on the bonus discs.

This album is a transitional one. Shortly after Joy Division as the band moves into New Order. While the album 'Movement' has some rough spots, what really makes this particular 2 disc set stand out is the addition of singles and b sides. There's a version of 'Ceremony' that I've never heard anywhere else along with many other early New Order songs 'Everything's Gone Green', two versions of 'Temptation', 'In a Lonely Place' and more. This is probably not a cd for fans of the late 80s version of New Order. But, if you're a fan of their early darker work or just love them in all their stages this is a must-have.

Duran-Duran is the greatest!!! This cd is magnificent!! I thought I'd heard most of their songs, yet I found a few on here I had no idea of. I really love "Serious"...such a relaxing song. Also "Skin Trade" rawks. And of course the old classics "Rio", "View to a Kill" and "Save a Prayer" are fitting for any occasion. Definately an needed add to any D-D fan or avid 80's music fan such as myself!

Please note that almost all the reviews here are for the original cd - not the remastered 2 cd set. See "Paul slop"s review for the real scoop. At least the first disc seemed to escape the clicks and other unwanted defects. One star deducted for the poor remaster job. Amazon says: "Digitally remastered and expanded two CD edition of this 1986 album ... This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title." - No - this one is available.

As a fan of Depeche Mode since 1986, a new release is always cause for celebrtion. It used to mean a couple 12 inch singles would also be released with extended versions and maybe a b-side. then came cassette maxi singles and remixes. Followed by cd singles and imports, videos and downloads. The albums are all wonderful, and the singles have all spawned their own mini-albums...remember how many versions of Personal Jesus we got?!!? My point is that Depeche Mode does release GREAT singles. Awesome songs, and this compilation s great for someone wanting an overview. But as good as the singles are, there are many 'album tracks' that are the true gems...This is just the surface. Many singles are missing, including my 2 favorites "Stripped" from Black Celebration, and 'Behind The Wheel" from Music For The Masses. The exclusion of those tracks ... Read More
