Standing alone, this DVD is excellent. My own personal opinion is that I enjoyed previous releases better for the extra contents. I prefer "making of" shorts and documentaries in place of skits, sketches, and SNL performances. I'm sure they are more fun to create though. On a positive note, we know much more about them as individuals in the last 10 years because the performances are less canned. The concert footage has come a long way from the Rio performance that was thrown together after a rain storm. Still, I'm not sure I'd continue in the direction of comedy. The 20 years of serious music covered up a spontaneous sense of humor only sometimes seen live. Name a "video" on Chronicles that is not dated. I like Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Their first CD (CHRISTMAS EVE AND OTHER STORIES) is easily one of my top ten favorite Christmas albums. (Maybe even top five.) Two years ago, my wife and I had the pleasure of seeing them in a sold-out concert performance in Houston. And I hope they continue to make great Christmas music in the future, although I've heard that LOST CHRISTMAS EVE will be their final venture into the Christmas music arena. LOST CHRISTMAS EVE will not disappoint anyone who loves hard rock instrumental. With all due respect to all you people who loved TSO, I think you should wake up and go straight to the nearest CD store and buy Savatage albums and give it a listen because TSO=Savatage! and Basically the Christmas Eve/Sarajevo song is basically a song on the Dead winter dead album for Savatage! Even Back to a reason II is the same Back to a Reason song sung by Jon Oliva in Poets and Madmen album for SAVATAGE! So,, why does TSO get the credit and Savatage doesnt! Is this Fair!

This is an amazing set. I have been listening to the SACD import version (which everyone except amazon seems to know has already been released) which brings a clarity and fidelity to these recordings like nothing before it! It is hard to believe this music is closing in on 40 years old, and in 5.1 surround sounds as fresh as if it had been recorded yesterday. Some of the mixing choices are different than I remember on the orginals (some better, some not), however, I am also hearing new sounds that were previously obscured within the mix. Highly recommended!

This is not the best I've seen from David but if you are a fan you might like the show. The Island Live is a much better show.

I love the Christmas Canon but the rest of the songs didn't measure up. I should have investigated it better before purchasing it. I think if this was a live performance it would be worth it, but the CD just doesn't cut it.

My husband and I are huge fans of TSO. We go to their concert every year here in Atlanta. When you're in a concert setting, sometimes you can't quite hear all the words. (Granted: all the lighting and fireworks and snow are a little distracting! LOL!) However, when you listen to the CD, and can hear the words, the songs are even more powerful. Our favorite singer is Tommy who does "The Ornament". He's been the singer on our tour every year except for this one and I am always moved by him. TSO has resurfaced in the past few years as "the" group to listen to. (I remember when - for Christmas - it was Mannheim Steamroller.) Whether in person at a concert or in the privacy of your car or home, the music is always good.
