Most of the songs on this great album were written in India while the Fab Four were studying Transcendental Meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in early 1968. This is also the first album in which not all four Beatles participated on every track. Yet from an artistic standpoint, they remained very strong, although not every track here necessarily was. Frankly, the album has obviously secured itself the "classic" title. Honestly, how could it not? While many feel it to be over-rated and pretentious, the impact it had on pop-culture, and the impact it continues to have, is simply massive. It is a fair assumption that there will never be another band like the Beatles, and by extension another album like Sgt. Pepper. While this is rather sad, it's also for the best. Anyone who loves the album shouldn't have a problem with this fact, as they can simply put on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band; thirty-nine minutes of music that changed the world.

This review is written by Mr. Bradberry's students: The beatles' number one hits was a great album that they have put out. I think it was a great compilation of there hits. They put it together and had it sold in stores and they had there fan base grow 10 fold. But some of there songs that are on the album should not be on there and they also could have made it into a two disc set. The songs may be scatterd into many of there Cd's but they all came together in one great compilation and as you all can tell i give a five out of five. If fans truly love the beatles they should buy this cd, and be prepared for a revival of beatlemania. unlike today's boy band the beatles actually wrote their music. Anyone who gives this cd anything less than 5 stars is an idiot and your village does'nt want you back. This music collection is so unique that it has held it's popularity from generation to generation. (The only true test of greatness). This particular example of creative prog rock puts Pink Floyd up there in rarified air with all the heavyweights, like Mozart,Beethoven,and Tchaikovsky. Great music is intellectual , and that is why some people don't get it. The majority of people are looking for a cd chocked full of little 4 minute ditties because they have the attention span of a knat. Dark Side Of The Moon is meant to be enjoyed over an expanded period of time. Basically what's said in the title. The album was cheap and works well. Furthermore, I ordered it on a Wednesday night and received it that same Saturday. I am very satisfied.

Good introducition to the band and probably the best compilation available to the casual fan. For a more complete collection of Who songs it would be better to buy some of their albums in addition to this one. Who's Next, Quadrophenia and Tommy are Essentials to any serious collector, but this collection will have pretty much all of the songs that anyone has heard on the radio. I'm not a fan of their 60's material, so that is the reason for the 4 stars. Otherwise, the Who made some great music. They have never been one of my favorite bands, but they were one of the biggest and most influential bands to come out of the 60's and into the 70's. Along with The Rolling Stones, Led Zepellin and Pink Floyd.
