Kilburn is a good show. But as previously noted it is a little sloppy, and Pete needs to be much further up in the mix. I don't mind sloppy, hey it's rock and roll. But the boys sound a little lethargic. (Especially when compared to the 69 show.) Pete is jumping around and dancing and windmilling like a madman, but the musical energy to back up the antics is just not there for good portions of the show. Keith is fine, but he does a lot of mugging for the camera, and I think his playing at the 69 show is far superior to Kilburn. I'm sure a lot of fans will disagree, but I am just not as amped up about this show as other reviews.

The Coliseum show from 1969 is another matter. The sound mix is worse than Kilburn but the band sounds better! Pete does less dancing but much more *playing*; ... Read More

Standing alone, this DVD is excellent. My own personal opinion is that I enjoyed previous releases better for the extra contents. I prefer "making of" shorts and documentaries in place of skits, sketches, and SNL performances. I'm sure they are more fun to create though. On a positive note, we know much more about them as individuals in the last 10 years because the performances are less canned. The concert footage has come a long way from the Rio performance that was thrown together after a rain storm. Still, I'm not sure I'd continue in the direction of comedy. The 20 years of serious music covered up a spontaneous sense of humor only sometimes seen live. Name a "video" on Chronicles that is not dated. In retrospect, I'll bet half of the RUSH videos (especially the obscure ones NOT on Chronicles) ... Read More

Most of the songs on this great album were written in India while the Fab Four were studying Transcendental Meditation with the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in early 1968. This is also the first album in which not all four Beatles participated on every track. Yet from an artistic standpoint, they remained very strong, although not every track here necessarily was.

Back In The USSR-A rock song by Paul. One of the albums' better tracks. Ringo had temporarily walked out so it's Paul playing the drums here.

Dear Prudence-Written by John and named after Mia Farrow's sister who John said meditated too long. Again, Paul plays the drums.

Glass Onion-A throwaway song by John about people reading too much into his songs.

Ob-La-Di,Ob-La-Da-A cheery song by Paul about ... Read More

What more can I say that hasn't already been said? This is one of the greatest hard rocking albums of all time. AC/DC sounds like they are playing on top of a cliff as lightning is striking in the background. I don't need to say any more. Buy it already.

This is an amazing set. I have been listening to the SACD import version (which everyone except amazon seems to know has already been released) which brings a clarity and fidelity to these recordings like nothing before it! It is hard to believe this music is closing in on 40 years old, and in 5.1 surround sounds as fresh as if it had been recorded yesterday. Some of the mixing choices are different than I remember on the orginals (some better, some not), however, I am also hearing new sounds that were previously obscured within the mix. Highly recommended!

7.BLACK ICE by: AC/DC
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Music : BLACK ICE
I won't deny that AC/DC's latest offering, "Black Ice," is nothing more than their standard, straight ahead, gritty, grubby hard rock. But would you expect anything else from these guys? While many hard rock bands that ruled throughout the late 70's/80's modified their sound in an attempt to save their waning careers once the 90's hit, AC/DC was content with sticking to what they did best, which was provide simple, fun hard rock tunes to the masses. It's a formula that's worked well for them so far.

It's been almost a decade since the Young brothers and their compadres released an album, and "Black Ice" is a welcome piece of rock in a time when bands like Nickelback, Puddle of Mudd and others rule the airwaves. Now that's nothing personal against those bands. I like many of them. However, hard ... Read More

This is a fine compilation of hits from a great band, and truly epitomizes the term "greatest hits". This collection is just that...hits. If you are a fan of Journey, you'll love it. If you've heard one song on this collection, chances are you've heard them all. And if you haven't heard them, one listen and you'll be hooked.

Creedence Clearwater Revival is definitely one of the coolest bands of all-time. Frontman John Fogerty is one hell of a singer/songwriter. How can you not love classics like Down on the Corner, Fortunate Son, Proud Mary, Bad Moon Rising, Susie Q, and many more. This is how southern rock is supposed to be done, I highly recommend it! Good job fellas.
