And the company still sent me the wrong cd.The cd i received was 25 most classical favorites,so instead of returning the wrong item,i just took the lost.

even though it's been 40 years since it was released, Switched on Bach by Wendy (formerly Walter) Carlos is one of the best musical performances ever recorded. Anyone even remotely into classical music would enjoy this CD. I had this as a kid (on a record - ask your parents what those were) and it disappeared in all the moves. I was SO glad to find it again. Chris

This CD mostly delivered what was expected of it. The only critique I have is that some of the tempos could have been cleaner, and that it should be cross-referenced by the other composers besides J. S. Bach.

What else can you say - Bela fleck is a natural phenomenon and has created one of the most bewilderingly impressive feats on a banjo you will ever hear. The album is simply a masterpiece. I watched this live many years ago and was amazed - a life changing performance. Who would have ever thought you could accomplish this with a banjo - Another impressive aspect of Bela Fleck is that he has somehow managed to memorize most of the masterpieces on this album, and to see it live is mind boggling. This is a once in a lifetime performance by one of the most talented musicians to ever live. It's a privilege to have been able to experience it and I highly recommend the album, especially to Bach and Beethoven fans - you will be blown away.

I wasn't as over-joyed with this CD as I expected to be. I bought it after hearing the title track on FM radio. The title track is, indeed, a jewel; the rest is, in my view, only high-grade "background" music.The pianist is a marvel (and a beauty, too!) - her popularity is easily understandable. She possesses a remarkable gift for transposing and transcribing classic keyboard to "swing" keyboard. Many Bach purists (this one, for example) don't appreciate that, even though we have to admit that a lot of Bach swings, anyway, without transcribing. Lsten to tracks 3 and 4 and you will get your money's worth - they're worth the price.

I remember back in the late sixties the original LP of "Switched on Bach" started showing up in record stores and causing quite a storm. Of course, being the proper musical snob and "purist" I was, I discounted them as being nothing better sounding than "tuned rubber bands". The trouble was, it was being played everywhere. You couldn't avoid it. And I was forced to listen. Little by little, I must admit, I was won over. First of all, the interpretations really aren't half bad. And that sound! I own several of Peter Pupping's CDs and enjoy them all. Gloria was the first one I purchased. If anyone appreciates the classical guitar, he or she will appreciate this CD. Peter's version of Canon in D Minor just blows me away, it was recorded in a mission in California and the acoustics are incredible. If you get the chance to see him and his band perform live in Southern California it will be worthwhile.

We are using this series of CDs in our homeschool music program - they are fantastic! We especially love this one about Bach - what an awesome man! The story of his life is told in a way that is very interesting and holds the children's attention while also using various pieces of his music in the narration. It is done VERY well! My children are gaining a tremendous amount of knowlege and appreciation for music through this CD and so are my husband and I!

I really enjoy The Swingle Singers, but will leave to others to detail and comment upon the music itself. My concerns are with this current release. I purchased Jass Sebastien Bach on CD a few years ago and the release contained 23 cuts. It turns out that release was actually what had originally been both volumes 1 and 2 of JSB, even though it was not labeled that way. This release has only 13 cuts, the other 10 being on JSB volume 2. I don't know if the combined version is still available anywhere, but I thought it worth mentioning. Plus, as someone else mentioned the cardboard casing is a let down. Given how I stack my CDs I suspect that the cardboard will wear out faster and be less likely to protect the CD.
