I admit the idea seemed kind of silly: matching a rock God with a folk Goddess -- each amazing in their own way but, together? I just wasn't sure. But good God almighty, there's some serious magic at work here. Haunting, melancholy, harmonious -- hard to describe but there's something divine in the notes. The pairing is odd but works in a way that's really quite amazing. And seeing them live -- whoa! If you like deep, moody music (or either of these two musical giants on their own) you must give this album a try. Granted, it's not Zep and it's not Union Station bluegrass -- but that's the point. Though the singing is great and the instrumental pleasing throughout, this CD doesn't quite match the lofty standards set by his first two CDs. But it is still a strong album and, after a few more listens, grew on me so much that it's now on constant rotation at my house. Highlights include "Listen," "Baby I want You," "What's Been Going On," and "Better Days." Give it a try. It gratifies in a way most music cannot.

We've been huge fans of John Hiatt's for years.........and see him live whenever he comes to town. We feel that his latest gift of music, "Same Old Man" was written just for us as we are in the same stage of life and love that he writes about and can understand the meaning and feeling in each word. He is a consummate writer and performer, the six string bass is outstanding, his vocals - pure John and if that is not enough, he shares with us the wonderful harmony of his daughter Lily. Rock On John, we love you!

I love this CD. The songs tell stories and have meaning. It's easy to sing along and fun to just sit and listen.

The most awesome CD I have. "Hard Sun" is a classic as well as "The Wolf" which has no lyrics but needs none.

Every time I listened to this album I remember seeing Le Vent du Nord live. I discovered them at the Sebastopol Celtic Festival. The positive energy level in the room was amazing! I just wish I could have been there the day before when they (along with Baka Beyond) gave a concert for 500 local elementary school kids. Reports are that the kids went totally nuts: jumping up and down, twirling around, and dancing in the aisles.

This is my favorite album of the past two years. That 's saying alot because many fine albums have been pressed. However Levon Helm captures the soul of America and sings with a heartfelt passion very seldom heard. Bravo to Leon

Love Gavin DeGraw and this CD. He's got a great voice and interesting lyrics.

This is classic Teddy Thompson and well worth the purchase. Two complaints though. There are absolutely no liner notes with the CD - aside from listing the song titles. The CD sleeve invites you to go to the website but the credits are shown there in such a complicated way. (I wanted to print them and put them with the CD). Second complaint... what is the point in having a hidden track (The Everly's 'Price Of Love') that to access requires you to fast forward 10 minutes along from the end of the final listed track. The easier solution (if you must have a hidden track) is to add it as an extra track, and thereby is readily accessible. Great album - sloppy finishing work.
