I sit here at my computer and try to think of superlatives adequate to accurately describe this album....and there just aren't any. It is worthy to be the best selling classical album of all time....but it's more than that. It's just a must have, a collection to soothe the savage breast. For those times when I have lost hope, when I am past care.....I will sit with closed eyes and listen to this. And revive my soul.....

Basso cantante is too far off a description for Schrott's singing. If you compare him with Shen Yang, the 24-year old who walked away with the title 'Cardiff Singer of the World' last year, you would but agree that young Shen is the rightful successor to this category, exemplified in the 20th century by Cesare Siepi. Mr. Schrott requires to put much more work in his voice, though I am in no way negative to his potential. As yet, he sounds a bit rough, and as Sante Fe Listener aptly describes, a bit flat in characterisation. In terms of the latter, I unreservedly recommend Thomas Quasthoff's new 'Haydn arias' album as a top choice for a showcase of characterisation and vocal expression.

What beautiful music. I'm new to opera, but the tracks on this CD are awesome. My only complaint is that Nessun Dorma is the last tract...so I start out there first.

This dvd was purchased as an early Mother's Day Present for my elderly mother. She has watched it nearly every night because she can't get enough. As an opera lover myself, absolutely loved the Karoeke of O Sole Mio! We were totally surprised about the "Impossible Dream" dvd of the making of this "historic" video. It is worth purchasing solely based on the historic nature of this concert. It was really beyond our wildest expectations. The price is well worth it.

I love this CD. Caruso is powerful and compelling. I listen to this CD on my computer, in my car, even in my backyard. It's very uplifting. I find Caruso to have a flavor of old Italian opera, pure and simple. I believe that anyone who wants to get back to the roots of opera would enjoy this CD and the selections on it.

I love this CD. Caruso is powerful and compelling. I listen to this CD on my computer, in my car, even in my backyard. It's very uplifting. An excellent product. My memory of the old vinyl disk from which it derived ("Farewell to the Greys") is that it was better, but this one is excellent all the same. Probably the bands have become so famous since the first vinyl record they have gotten a little 'stale' with thousands of performances.

This is an extraordinary CD. Mario Lanza is at his best, with some of the most stunning interpretations in opera: the two André Chenier arias, the superb Otello with Licia Albanese and the Butterfly with Elaine Malbin ! This CD brought me back to rediscover Mario Lanza five years ago and to try to know more . It ended up with the Creation of the Opera Club de Paris Mario Lanza, the opening of a website ([...]), trips to Philadelphia to attend every first week end of november the finals of the The Lanza Ball (International Singing contest, some winners Juan Diego Flores, Joyce di Donato etc...). I buy regularly this CD and give it to friends, clients and I tell them: "listen to real singing,listen to a man who sang with his soul.
