What's with the never-ending Christmas theme? We all love holidays, but come on! Also, the scaling back of vocals does not make this genre of music better.. it makes it worse. Look for other, more interesting artists who are using multiple vocal layers. Enya is too far out of touch now.

Some Amazon Reviewers say that the original hit versions are found elsewhere. Single versions, album versions, what do I know? I see that Donovan wrote every single song on this collection, and although he may have been looking back to "Atlantis", he was looking forward to "Zeppelin". Also to Bon Jovi? (Could "Blaze Of Glory" be a tribute to Mr. DL?). To Mark Bolan and T-Rex? That one goes without saying. Actually, names like Paul McCartney, Jeff Beck, and John Bonham do figure in the proceedings. Beautiful poetry set to tasteful arrangements. Bubble-gum Dylan? Why not? "Catch The Wind" is as good as "Blowin' In The Wind"! [I wonder if the Stan Laurel estate is aware of the album cover photo?].

No offense, but to heck with Enya. Big sis Moya has, and always has had, the better voice and the more down-to-earth image. I have been a fan of Clannad for 20 years now, and can safely say that this is the only one of Moya's solo projects that I absolutely love. This is coming from somebody who prefers their late 70s to late 80s work. That means fans of little sis, might just enjoy this collection of Yuletide tunes. Moya's trademark vocals are here, but they are often quite dreamy sounding. Gentle, yet joyous, and with just enough Irish instrumentation not to turn off adult contemporary snobs (believe me, there is such a thing where I live), it is a very nice collection of holiday tunes for a small gathering or family. If you enjoy Celtic music, this is a must. Some good old standards done with humor, gusto and haunting harmonies. It's a "must have" if only for the rendition of "The Parting Glass". Don't pass this one by! Product was just as described by the vendor and shipping was without problems. Be sure and check out the DVD version as well. There are always treats that are missed on the CD alone.

After the Hard and the Easy and a very welcome return to the salt, sea and shores of Newfoundland found in those playful and traditional style songs by the greatest band on earth, I was a little put off by my first few listens to this newest effort. The songs sound good and are well produced but I was a little bored about half way through by, what seemed to me, to be lots of the same old thing. I know it is in vogue to recycle these days, but not when it comes to music. I'm still not sure after a few more listens if this is a good album or not, but I don't hate it as much as I thought I would. The Bad: Too many attempts at "rock" songs. I LOVE celtic music, and hearing this CD takes me to another place entirely. I've never been to Ireland, but I can just feel and hear the atmosphere of the old pubs in the drinking songs, and smell the damp fields in others. My favorite, of course, is "The Unicorn", a true classic. The remaster is totally amazing!

Was lucky to get tickets for there Palm Springs, CA concert and also purchesed the cd "The Bells of Dublin" it is now a regular holiday habbit that we listen to it always. As a fact it is so well used that I am going to replace it with a cd, so that it can get a lot more use in my car. You can help but enjoy this type of music if you are any part of Irish.

Ok, this is a conditional rating. If you are a Donovan fanatic, and I do mean a fanatic, consider this a 4-star film. If you own every album..on vinyl, have a Peace sign-shaped air freshner dangling gaily from your Prius, and can watch Billy Jack Goes To Washington without collapsing into apoplectic laughter, than you can probably listen, with rapt awe at three, very long hours of Donovan's love letter to himself, otherwise known as "Sunshine Superman: The Journey of Donovan", but anyone else is probably going to start questioning the existence of God about 20 minutes in. It is truly rare in this world to witness anyone this hilariously narcissistic, and there can be some fleeting entertainment value in that. But three hours?
