I love this CD. This was the first Zero 7 CD that I ever had and it is still my favorite although When It Falls has it's moments. I first heard these guys on a compilation CD that I picked up at the library and I immediately knew that I would be buying their stuff. In the world of chill they are standouts for sure. They put the ahhh...in acid. Great vocals and mood creating progressions. I always get this one out when it is time to relax around the pool and really get into some serious lay-back and get-high. This music has a warm, sexy rich texture to it that evokes the feeling you get when the sun is beating down on your skin and you feel like your melting. I Have Seen, Destiny, Simple Things, and Waiting Line are exceptional tracks. Buy it.

One of my favorite CDs, for a long time now. I love to drift in a pool, enjoying small amounts of some calming substance, and let Zero 7 float me away on colorful clouds of beauty. Almost as good as meditation.

Although average, it is a consistent, high-brow mediocrity. The group continues to focus on production technique at the expense of creating memorable tunes, which initially brought them into the spotlight on their debut. Here, although consistently "pleasant enough" to suffice as background coffee shop fodder, barely anything sticks to memory and what does still comes up emotionally superficial.

Music : Another Late Night

Zero 7 has laid out a good selection of songs here. No point in arguing that. CD's like this always get reviews that say "Oh my God, this isn't a real Zero 7 album, it's a let down". Following suit with some of the other AnotherLateNight albums or LateNightTales (Air and Fila Brazillia being two of my fav's) this is a great release. These are also two series of compiled artists where the mixing isn't that important to me. They're created under the idea of the last songs you hear after a long night of partying and dancing and now it's time to chill out, lay back, and go out on a good note. It's like hanging out and passing out with some friends and you're taking turns switching the record. Some are feel good songs, other's have a little bounce to them, but all in all this is a good album. ... Read More

There are two things that remixing can do to a song: on one hand, it can elevate a simple melody into an exquisitely complex new sound. On the other, it can turn it into a sloppy mess suitable only for club dancing. Unfortunately, "Simple Things: Remixes" is the second.

Things don't start off well: "Distractions (Bugz in the Attic Remix" kicks things off with a spasmodic electronic beat overlaid over a wavery mix, while "In the Waiting Line (Dorfmeister con Madrid de los Austrias Dub)" adds a Latin flavor to the original.

"Distractions (Madlibs Ynq Remix)" is a flatulent, plodding remix, while "End Theme (Roni Size's Tear It Up Remix)" sounds like the soundtrack to a sci-fi thriller. Only "Destiny (Photek Remix)" has any redeeming value, with its cold, distant electronic ... Read More

If you look at the "Somersault" CD single on itunes, it has an amazing 8:24 remix by Yam Who. If that remix is on this CD single, then it definitely deserves 4 or 5 stars. If it's not available on the CD, get yourself to itunes immediately and download this baby. Yam Who takes what was a good song and elevates it into the stratosphere with dynamite percussion, haunting organ, and sweet strings. It is truly an experience not to be missed!!!

8.In the Waiting Line by: Zero 7

Music : In the Waiting Line
The title track is another heavenly release from Zero 7, relaxed with sensual female vocals. The track conjures up images of the summer and sun, with it's slow and easy going tempo.

On the other hand, there is the rest of the single. Aquanote's Naked Adapation for this track is nothing short of heavenly. We got some dance beat and the tempo is going up, but it keeps the easy and relaxed feel. Heavenly.

For the fans of Soulstice and Blue Six

Great songs from a great band. Do yourself a favor though and head over to amazon.co.uk where the same 3 track single can be had for a fraction of the price.

just want to clarify for anyone who might be misled by the other review, this is not "trance"... this is downtempo, with a little bit of a jazzy edge, and more than a little alt.rock/folk pop thrown in, but not too much, hence the guitars...

I agree this is excellent, nice price. All these songs are on their import CD, "Simple Things" a solid album, not one bad track, with a few that are truly exceptional. It's so solid that at first you'd think all the tracks sound the same, but there are many differences, some are not so subtle... this is more than just an excellent chill out album, it's really a downtempo classic!
