I discovered a cassette of this recording on a bargain table several years ago. It quickly became my favorite car tape for the Christmas season, so now I need the CD for the tapeless new car. The Stille Nacht is the German version - just a slight waltz twist at the end. Lovely. And the Pueri Concinite features a young treble voice that brings tears to your eyes. Tochter Zion is a keeper as well. There are the old standbys but for those looking for music that isn't played every day after Thanksgiving, this has some nice pieces.

This is a beautiful recording of many traditional German carols. There is just something so sweet and ethereal about the Vienna Boys Choir sound and this CD does not dissapoint. The Vienna Boys Choir is world reknowned and with good reason. Enjoy and listen to a bit of heaven.

The music was executed well, but the arrangements were terrible. I wish it was not Christmas music. The arranger chose to change it with very irritating harmonic combinations. If one likes music with strange modern disonances, this is your CD. If one is looking for Christmas music that reminds one of Christmas, look to another CD. I was very, very disappointed.

Excellent! I purchased this as a gift for a friend who loves Placido Domingo and she was very pleased. There is no other who compares to him. (our opinion)

Once when describing listening to Mahler's Third (Bernstein/NYPO/DG), I wrote the following: "I must say, comparatively speaking and despite the plethora of written rhetoric concerning Mahlerian interpretation, the Symphony No. 3 sounds incredibly simplistic! It's not that I don't like the Third; it's really quite enjoyable (and long!), but it's like listening to a b-movie -- emotionally transparent, texturally plain, and singularly melodramatic." Wonderful CD. The songs are great and the Vienna Boys Choir is all way wonderful to listen too. They never disappoint. They are so professional. The song the Little Drummer Boy is great, they do such a good job on that song. They could have sung more songs though. The album is quiet short. I was hopping when I bought it that it would have more songs but that is OK. I would still recommend this CD to people.
