this album is good for a tricky album. if your into the evolution of tricky, you will like this one. allot different than the old stuff but still on the same feel. if your into taking long walks, this album is good for that.

I HAVE MANY MAXIVE ATTACK AND PORTISHEAD CDS, I BOUGHT TWO TRICKY CDS; MAXINIQUE AND PRE-MILLINEUM. MAXINIQUE IS THE ONE TO HAVE. IT CONTINUES THE MELLOW THEME OF HIS PREVIOUS COLLABORATIONS. I'D STAY AWAY FROM PRE-MILLINEUM, IT'S DOES SOMETHING TO TRICKY'S VOICE THAT CAN START A HEADACHE...SOME OVER OR UNDER SYNTHESIZED NOISE.

This album is alright, starts off with more of a feel like Maxinquaye not Nearly God. but it just ddidn't live up to the hype that was around it. It's alright, but don't expect it to be as good as his first two. Get something like blow back, because at least he's experimenting with some different sounds. But here, it's just rehashing.

"Nearly God" is as most reviewers agree, an apt title for the album. It's got a couple of interesting choices of cover songs (Siouxsie & Depeche) as well as collab with Bjork. Songs like "Poems" are some of his best work, but some of the tracks still leave me feeling like there's something missing. But don't get me wrong. This album is definately worth it for any Tricky fans. Probably my 3rd fave under "Max" & "PMT". If you're looking for something underground along these lines, check out "Eta" by XIV.Eta

Good CD. This is 2007 and it is not necessary that every track on a CD be great, because you just rip the best tracks to your iTunes and delete the bad ones. Simple. I'll buy a CD for one track, if it's hot enough.
Now on this Tricky piece, I would keep tracks 1,2,4,8,9,10,12,and 13 and delete the rest. Use the AIFF (un-compressed) setting on iTunes.

This cd is very different although it seems like its just a combination of alot of his other albums rolled onto one album i think it gets tricky's best. Working with people like Bjork,Allison Goldfrapp, etc. he brings a "different" taste to the trip hop scene. At times I think the way the album was put together it the tracks could of been placed in a different order but thats just my picky side. The song "Poems" which takes you on almost a depressing but enlightening road gets u ready for what the album ride is like. "Broken Homes" which features the punk/alternative artist PJ Harvey is a song which seems like the drum pattern is from a drummer boy goin to war and a choir chanting lyrics about how people just cant seem to keep things together these days."Pumpkin" which features Allison Goldfrapp is a Smashing Pumpkins ... Many know Tricky through Massive Attack and while i have much love for Massive Attack I am a huge fan of Tricky and his music.

This CD is easily the best effort yet, Costanza flows perfectly with her deeply intoxicating lyrics that mesh with the dark background 'rap' of Tricky.

Best songs:
Car Crash, dark ballad of a woman in a car crash.
The Love Cats, perfectly meshed slow and sensual.

Very moody and deep, this album is another chapter in a very interesting career.

8.Juxtapose by: Tricky
August 17, 1999
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

>>More Details
Music : Juxtapose
Tricky with his fourth major album was back to his blistering best form. After the disappointing "Angels with Dirty Faces", Tricky teams up with DJ Muggs (from Cypress Hill) and Grease (amongst others) for a match (or matches) made in heaven with "Juxtapose".

The album kicks off with "For Real" - an ever-so-smooth dig at Gangster rappers and their "fake" lifestyles. The album then does a u-turn with "Bom Bom Diggy" - where Tricky is rapping some incredibly drugged fudged but memorable lines ("Drop the Bombz/Who Killed the Fonz/Henry Winkler/How does he thinker/How does he sinker" - total class peoples! To complete his epic little trilogy of songs - Contradictive is another smooth but dark song with what sounds like Iggy Pop being sampled for the chorus.

Juxtapose is short but hella sweet. Tricky ... Read More

The whole album flows amazingly well. It also has quite a few tracks that you cant find anywhere else. If you bought Vulnerable and watched the videos, heres where you can get the actual track of Receive Us. Anyways this really is a great CD, and buying turned me on to alot of great artists that i had never gotten a chance to listen to before, Rakim Allah for example. On top of that this CD also has a few songs by artists that havent put anything out before. Radanna and Liz Densmore mainly, two artists that Tricky signed, and there both great. Hopefully Tricky well get around to releasing both of their albums soon.

10.Angels with Dirty Faces by: Tricky

Music : Angels with Dirty Faces
a powerful, driving and spirited album that takes the listener into a million interesting, pleasurable and challenging dimensions. This artist has prided himself on breaking new ground with every release. What he achieves - whether he was conscious of this at the time of creation, or not - is music that is lasting. You can dive into this auditory blissful realm years after the fact and still be perfectly blown away.

Vision, craftsmanship and great effort have sustained this miraculous artist in moving beyond, and remaining away, from any semblance of competition.

This is a classic.
