I had heard the Guards many times, of course in more movies then I can count, or can I?, but they are amazing and this was the second one I bought (Auld Lang Syne being the first) and I absolutely was amazed by the breadth and heart in the songs, I as a result have pruchased the dvd to acoompany this cd so I could now watch the Guard perform as well. If you love bagpipes or just want your heart to soar and your feet to start swinging without you then give this a listen.

THIS IS A GREAT CD! IT IS A WONDERFUL MIX OF MODERN AND TRADITIONAL, AND OUR WHOLE FAMILY HAS ENJOYED IT. I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY HUSBAND,THOUGH, AND HE SAYS THE ONLY WAY IT COULD BE BETTER WOULD BE TO HAVE AC/DC DO A FEW SONGS WITH THEM! (FYI: THEY HAVE BAGPIPES ON SOME OF THEIR SONGS BY THE WAY. REALLY COOL.:0))

An excellent product. My memory of the old vinyl disk from which it derived ("Farewell to the Greys") is that it was better, but this one is excellent all the same. Probably the bands have become so famous since the first vinyl record they have gotten a little 'stale' with thousands of performances.

I had heard the theme song of this album over the internet for some time and loved it. From the hauntingly gorgeous sound of the bagpipes, "Last of the Mohicans" was the last film I would have guessed. What's the connection, I wonder? I was in Scotland this past summer and was on a tour bus, sitting near the driver. He decided to put some music on for us and guess what he played? The soundtrack from "Last of the Mohicans". There's no doubt about it now. I must have the CD in my collection.

This was one of the better compilations of the bands of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. This CD contains many tracks of the bands from RCA records done in the the early 1970s. The original "Amazing Grace" from the 1972 release heads off the mix. The CD transfer has retained the sound quality of the LP recordings, and since that was very good for the time, there has been no need to enhance it. With almost 70 minutes the lister gets some of the best selections the bands recorded in those years. Three good pipe band medleys are included, as well as regimental music and concert pieces by the regimental band. I bought this CD last week during my holiday in Scotland in a shop in Gretna Green. They were playing it in the shop and what immediately caught my ear was the combination between the traditional bag pipes and a rock guitar. I decided to buy the CD although I had only heard one track and must say that it was an excellent buy. I can't add more than the other critics, so my only recommendation is, listen to the samples and make up your own mind. I can recommend it with all my heart.

I felt like I had been wishing for a CD release of this film score ever since I had first seen this film for the first time ever on DVD. The score is very 1970's cool. This may sound as if I find it "tacky" this is not the case. It is a chilling film score that gives this film a real heartbeat. Any film score buff should run to buy this cd not only for the score but the interviews also. They are very informative and entertaining. Denny Zeitlin's one and so far only film score is a triumph for films of this genre. This CD does not contain the Jerry Garcia banjo cues - Film buffs of this film know that the late Mr Garcia laid down a few cues that were used for the in film as a favor to the director.
