It's not just brilliant because it's Clash. It is brilliant because you can rarely hear a whole live show. It would have been classic if Topper had been there!

Add me to the chorus of the other Clash fans that this compilation truly deserves 5 stars. I've been to many Clash concerts over the years, and this collection certainly captures many of the sparkling perfect moments of the live concerts. Although I'm sure it could have spanned to 2 or 3 discs, I am happy that we have a good solid 17 song collection of live songs. You get some good solid drumming from Nick. Deep anchoring from Paul. Choppy chords and great singing from Joe. And great lead guitar and vocals from Mick. The songs highlight the band in its best performances and in great unison. This captures the magic of some of those golden live shows. Melody plus rock plus message. This is the best live Clash album out there!

Ghetto deffendant, streight to hell, should i stay, rock the casbah... how the hell someone can say this is not one of the best rock albums ever? I like how they explore the sound of the guitar, different rithms but in a different, maturer way than in Sandinista... great record, with flaws, but listen without prejudice and you'll fall into it more and more (i started decades ago)

This album is an exercise in self-indulgence from start to finish. Spilled across three lps/2cds is a collection of songs and fragments that fall into three categories: reggae-based music that likely could have been an expectable single-disc album; rock-based material of mediocre quality and several song fragments, instrumentals and aural pastiches the appearance of which only go to prove that no one was thinking of quality when Sandinista was being produced. An album of this size (36 tracks; not all of which I consider songs) is a tough row to hoe for any band. One of the most successful multi-disc albums was Dylan's `Blonde on Blonde.' Clash on Broadway is the definitive collection of Clash songs - nearly everything is here and the sound quality is great from the remastering. It's a little discouraging that not all of the best songs are here. I was disappointed that "Remote Control", "Last Gang in Town" and "All The Young Punks" were left off of this set. That said, it's hard to go wrong with Clash on Broadway. It's easy to dismiss the Clash until you play a box set like this. For a time, they were the best band in rock. Not many punk bands from the late 70s could evolve as the Clash did, incorporating elements of reggae and rockabilly into the music without losing their identity. Sure, when you think of 70s punk music, the majority of people will call up the name of the Sex Pistols. With just the one album they apparently changed the world (as I've said in a previous review). Yes they did form a year later than the pistols, but they have given us a more quality catalogue of music than the Pistols did. They ended in 1986 but The Clash will still go down in history as one of the defining bands of that era. It wasn't just punk music, they also experimented with a bit of Funk and rap to keep the band fresh with mild success (thinking Rock The Casbah anyone?) Just what I was looking for old school music on one CD instead of buying a bunch I did that in the past with vinyl and casettes I love the sound of my albums and casettes and if they still made albums I'd probably still be buying them

This is a great way to introduce children or students to Peter and the Wolf and orchestral instruments. My music appreciation class loved it and they remembered the instruments much better than from the audio tape I used previously. There is a little creative deviation from the original Peter and the Wolf story, but it didn't really interfere with the presentation. We loved it!
