This is the BEST Christmas collection that I have ever heard. I would like to purchase 15 more to give as gifts this year; however, it appears that Decca is out of stock or no longer releasing it. HELP!!

The speed is a little fast especially in K.207 2nd Mov. I prefer Perlman editon instead of this one.

A nice collection of Mozart arranged and performed as the title says - to relax. It is not a definative collection as others have mentioned, but it the melodies are familiar and are things you know. This leads to a good CD to put on, sit down and listen to with your eyes closed. One of the things I have been trying to do to help relax and calm down and I am very happy I bought this. I will be buying other titles in this series.

The conductor and the singers can make a beautiful song the opera that everyone jeers and hates. To have a Russian singer doing o mio babbino caro is just plain silly...give the woman a break and play something from Russian opera...give a beautiful melodic aria to a lyrical singer like Caballe...boo hiss. Try Opera's Greatest Moments where they give Hvorostvsky an aria from Pique Dame and leave the bel canto to bel canto singers.

This is an excellent CD of singers from the past century, origonally recorded in analog and very well remastered.

I was expecting this to be true to its title"Meditation". Though nice it's really just a random selection of music not necessarily soft or meditative.

I have more experience with other genres of music, but am interested in basically all kinds. I have been collecting CDs for nearly 2 decades but had no Opera in my collection. I did a little research and arrived at a conclusion. If I wanted the most and best Opera music for my money, I had to get this title, which is a double album, and "The Most Famous Opera Duets". Well, the latter was a steal with a list price under four dollars, and the former was a truly good compilation of many uplifting, diverse, impactful, and pleasant pieces. I am satisfied with my purchases and have filled the gap in my music collection. I can't see Opera getting better than this and the other title I mentioned. Enjoy!

Who doesn't know Tchaikovsky ? I mean yes, it took me a while to learn how to spell his name but the guy has supplied all those lucky who will listen with a lifetime of good music. This compilation starts of soothing and relaxing, just when your tea is still hot, later when it starts to cool off the tunes get rowdier and more mischievous. My guess is that no one wanted spilling hot tea through over excitement, especially when that Nutcracker suite starts to bubble up, by then even my cats look like they want to dance. His music is sincere, beautiful, romantic and easily accessible for any ear. Tea, books and kitties go perfectly well with this album, it's nice to have something to listen to while I enjoy three of my favorite things. I'm not a total geek, I do like lots of other ... I used to have this CD when I was maybe 8 years old. Now I'm 21, and I'm thinking of buying it again, because I have such fond memories of it. As I remember, it's perfect for younger kids (i.e. me) as an introduction to Beethoven's music, and as long as it's not too loud, it's very easy to fall asleep to.
