The three songs on this single, all from the "Up" album, are beautiful. "Daysleeper" seems to tell the story of a night worker, but you never can tell with R.E.M.! "Emphysema" is a slow, jazzy sort of song. It has no lyrics however, which leads me to wonder why is it titled after cancer. But one again, you never know. The final track, entitled "Why Not Smile", is a sweet and encouraging song, and also my favorite.
