Pinetop Perkins is not your avarage 95-year old ! Nor is he your average singer/piano player either. He and his guests do a great job bringing these songs to life. Can't wait 'till his next album !

This was my first music download from Amazon, and it was worth it. If you like Pintop Perkins you can't go wrong here. Pinetop isn't the strongest singer, though he isn't bad either. What he does here is work with several vocalists and does what he does best, plays great piano. This is a fun and enjoyable collection of music!

I just returned from a live performance by the "living legend" of Boogie Woogie. Prior to my trip from San Antonio to Antones blues clup in Austin to See Mr Perkins perform, I gave this CD a listen. This recording truly captures the ambiance of the Austin blues club that has been the "Fort Apache" of the blues south of Chicago. Pinetops personable performance on the recording is exactly the way it is if you were standing next to the piano (as I was). "Big fat Mama" tends to stand out as my favorite boogie woogie tunes done by Mr. P, though his others such as "Pinetop's Boogie Woogie" with it's halts in the progression by Pinetop instructing "Stop!, dont you turn a page" This performance was recorded when Pinetop was 86 years old. He is 88 now and still rocks those keys as if he were 20. ... Read More

Excellent piano blues by a performer in his mid-70s - pay attention to the better reviews; this album is a 'bulleted' 5* recommendation in the All Music Guide to the Blues (meaning the one to start with in exploring this musician) and also a top recommendation in the Rough Guide to the Blues; I'd probably go more for 4* or 4 1/2*, but wanted to 'bump' the rating up to draw attention to this excellent effort!

Back on Top Smooth and sweet all the way thru..and to think this guy is still touring at 93 years young!
