Some of the themes are originally from the TV shows but I specifically bought this CD because other reviewers claimed that it had the original theme from The Love Boat. If that is the theme you're looking for, don't bother getting this CD.

For this price you cant go wrong. It has all styles, allegro, largo, slow and fast paced with the trumpet and background instruments. Vivaldi and Telemann's pieces are my favorites on this CD, but the rest is great as well. This soothing music that makes you feel great to live at the same time is impossible to pass up. All it took was one sample for me to buy it, and no regrets!

This lady has one great voice. She can certainly sell a song. My only reservation about her is that she's a bit cocky. I think she could use some humility.

These remakes done by The City of Prague Orch. are worthless. Thye come no where near the actual majesty of Bernstein's music. The original, or nothing.

I am a musical novice. I was brought up listening to Pink Floyd, Santana, Joni Mitchell, and so on. I could not read music to save my life. Then someone introduced me to some Josquin Des Pres Rennaissance Polyphony - Missa L'homme arme sexti toni, Agnus Dei, to be specific - and I was totally hooked. A few years later, someone introduced me to this CD, and I was even more taken. For some reason, I really like the Perotin-composed pieces - tracks 1, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 9. The Beata viscera (track 8) is other-worldly, and quite possibly one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard in my entire life! You don't have to be a musical scholar to enjoy this - it's simply beautiful!

Full of vitality - robust rhythms abound. Not the most moving version - but a strong, athletic version that should win newcomers to this masterpiece. Perhaps the sheer pace of the performance alerted me to the fact that this is a kind of 'distilled' opera - with some arias lasting around 30 seconds! Certainly in less than an hour one finds as much emotion and musical 'food' as in other composers' hours... I have no one recommendation - you just have to buy numerous versions to experience the totality. Finding them is part of the fun.

Seriously, whether if you have no idea exactly what kind of composer Purcell was, or only plan to buy only one CD of his music (God forbid!), this record will knock you off, in a very pleasant and surprising way. I don't like to write superlatives, but this CD has unanimously 5 stars with non-ceasing praises, and guess what: it is THAT good. So good that is gives a good case for few of those who believes that Purcell was a greater composer than Handel or even Bach! Just listen to "Vouchsafe, O Lord, To Keep Us This Day" (second last track) and be awed; it is comparable to one of the best of Bach's cantata's single movement. If you truly like good music, you cannot afford to NOT have this CD: you will thank me and other reviewers here later, GUARANTIED. Have a nice day.

Once again, Steve Jablonsky has made a true movie score. It is not his absolut best work, which has to be the score of Transformers, yet it belongs to a 5-Star Moviescore. He gave a true personal touch to this work and this makes the difference between a movie soundtrack and a movie score. Probably one of the most gifted componists right now.

I just listened to Concerto Antico on NPR and rushed over here to buy it. Not since listening to Rodrigo's guitar concertos have I been so moved, and in fact, I find this piece even MORE compelling. A Must Have!

First of all, I was enthralled by the singing and the organ sound: very rich and musical in every way. The congregational singing, specifically, is superb, and the CD is worth buying for everything that comes before and after the Christmas Historia. The historia, though, is an edition that is disconcerting to me. Perhaps I have heard versions that are less "authentic" than this one, but there are enough differences between the McCreesh and other versions I have heard that I must assume others will be affected the same way.
