What ever happened to the Gershwins, or Berlin, or Cole Porter or anyone else who can write music? On the positive side: The CD cover has nice art work. Otherwise: In my opinon, this music? is a pile of you know what. I defy you to tell me which song from the show that you're humming when you leave the theatre or after you've shut off the cd player? I guess i'm just a little miffed because I actually paid money for the CD (growl).

I have always been a huge fan of Audra McDonald so I found this soundtrack. It's got an incredible cast of amazing voices. The music is not musical-theatre-style at all. It is very dark, very brooding, very emotional. It is georgous though. I am very glad I have this album. I would reccomend reading a synopsis while you're listening to this. I got the soundtrack off itunes and don't have any synopsis so I was very confused as to what was happening, but if you know the story, it's phenominal music!

Once again Mr. LaChiusa blends song with the story in a very unique way. It's a great score with some real talent behind it.

What a unique musical. Awesome cast and a great listen for anyone who is involved in music theatre.

This is arguably Michael John LaChiusa's finest musical, and the recording more than does the show justice. Characters come vividly to life in each song, and as the lyrics sharply point out what they think they want, the music subtley evokes their hidden desires. The opening sweet-yet-weary siren song of a prostitute grows into a hot and bothered jazz seduction by a jaded soldier, which in turn becomes the stacatto domination of a young college boy... And so on, until the circle is complete, and everyone says "Hello, again." There is not a weak link in the wonderful ensemble cast, and the album has the unexpected bonus of featuring many stars before they were well-known. Take her or leave her, i give her credit for going broadway, and then spreading these tunes, by these diverse group of artists, out into the stratosphere. now, to my point: CAN SOMEBODY GET THESE SONG CREDITS RIGHT? RAISE THE ROOF IS FROM THE OFF-BROADWAY 'WILD PARTY' BY ANDREW LIPPA, NOT THE BROADWAY VERSION BY MICHAEL JOHN LACHIUSA. I don't mind LaChiusa getting royalty money whatever the case, I am a fan of his version of the full length poem, not much of Lippa's, but people. Somebody get this righ and corrected.

I wish Delaria would put out more albums like this one. Her voice and interpretation of the songs on the album are really great and withstand lots of repeat plays. Highly recommended. Many of the cuts are worth 5 stars, but I didn't really like all of her song choices, so that's why I rated the album 4 stars.
