I have loved Maria's music for decades, I guess that lets you know how old I am. I have a broad range of favorite artists from Assembly of Dust to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Maria's albums I reach for most of the time. This one did not let me down. When Maria sings the incredible soul touching ballads on this album you can feel it from your heart to your pinky toes! Her voice has been fine tuned with time and experiences and you can hear it in every selection. You want to sway, boogie, shout or cry when listening to this creative venue of perfection. Please, please Maria, don't ever stop.

Music : Maria Muldaur
In late 1960s great blues survivor Victoria Spivey reccomended this little girl to Kweskin Jug Band ("you kids need some sex-appeal on the stage") and from these Jug Band days Maria Muldaur followed her dreams and sailed through music show-bussines and she's still around, some 35 years after this excellent debut album that some people call "one hit wonder".True,"Midnight at Oasis" was such monster 1970s radio hit that she never even approached this commercial peak but clearly it wasn't even her priority ("Oasis" was recorded as after-thought when they needed one more song for album and her buddy David Nichten suggested his song) What Muldaur did back than and she is still doing,is recording excellent and eclectic albums, covering different music genres and displaying formidable musical knowledge ... I was smitten by "Midnight at the Oasis" in the early seventies. Marie's voice is truly one of the sexiest women's singing voices of all time. In 2004...At the "Blue Guitar" in Palm Springs...in person and in great voice...She rocked... After the gig, Maria signed my "I'm A Woman" CD. A truly memorable night. All are great, but "Cajun Moon" brings back memories that have a deep and haunting effect on me... that makes for many repeated listenings.

First,I have to admit a thing or two: I absolutely love Muldaur's last two acoustic blues albums, second I frequently listen 1920s blues queens on my I-pod (I collect with interest & enthusiasm their original music) so naturaly I was very excited and curious about this album. It might be that I'm too familiar with originals but I have impression that while Muldaur honestly loved & enjoyed previous two albums, this is done for the sake of finishing the trilogy. The magic is present only on duet with Bonnie Raitt who gracefuly harmonises from behind and dont push herself too much in front, excatly as young Muldaur did on her 1968 recording of the same song with great late Sippie Wallace.Althought Muldaur herself have talent, ability, attitude and formal connections with some of 1920s blues stars, somewehere ... I must admit I only know Maria Muldaur from her "Midnight at the oasis" period in the 1970s and picking up on that she was a contemporary of Dylan's in his Village period from the first volume of his biography. My sole reason for buying this was an ongoing interest in all Dylan covers with a selection of Dylan love songs from across the years being on offer here.

The lady does not disappoint with a nice set of interpretations which achieve a reworking of many songs and mostly vast improvements on Dylan's originals with her slightly husky blues cum jazz interpretations (Lay Lady Lay being one of the best examples versus the country style original). Arrangements and backings are mostly very understated with the emphasis being on the mood rather than the soloing. As the liner notes make clear the project ... Read More

Maria Muldaur is sweet, sexy, fun, passionate, original and fresh in "Waitress in Donut Shop," which hands-down is my favorite album of hers. I used to play this album on my turntable every morning to get ready for work. Yep, it was that good it got me going every morning day after day for months!

My toddler likes the music on this CD. When I first heard it, I wasn't sure it would go over well---my husband is not crazy about the music---but my 2 year old likes it! The songs are catchy and the music is nice and easy listening.

My dad really loved Peggy Lee, so I grew up hearing a lot of her songs. I kind of liked a few of her songs but there was something sort of monotone to me about the way she sang that failed to inspire.

I was actually nervous about buying this CD, afraid I would not like it very much. Boy, was I wrong. Maria pumps new life into these songs with a sauciness and bawdiness all her own that livens things up "just right."

Maria done good on this one - two thumbs up!

I only recently discovered Eric Bibb as a result of a recommendation on Bonnie Raitt's site. Well, my only regret is all the years I've missed not hearing this smooth, throaty, bluesy wonderful voice. This is the third or forth CD of his I've purchased since that discovery only weeks ago, and I have yet to be disappointed. And Maria Muldaur and Rory Block will knock you out. This is agreat combination of talent. Just buy it!!

Much like Bonnie Raitt's second wind with NICK OF TIME in 1989,
Maria gave us Louisiana Love Call in the early 90's and it to
began a new phase and musical appreciation few can match to this
day. Maria and Bonnie both got attention back in the early 70's
with the musical variety they gave us on their albums. Here it
is 2005 and both ladies are still stronger than ever with up
coming releases. This collection is full of prime Maria and
well worth finally being able to obtain again. Great CD!!
