After the amazing remixes from Frozen, I expected more great sounds for these mixes. They're kind of diasppointing, but they're still good. I just expected more of a club kind of sound. The Ultraviolet mix is a perfect example of this. The Calderone Mix is the best one for club play on this CD.

While there are no remixes of Secret on this cd, it is worth it for the B-Side Let Down Your Guard. Let Down your guard is a sultry r&b song that unfortunately didn't make it on to the album Bedtime Stories. Cd includes Secret Edit, LP version, instrumental, and Let Down Your Guard. The remixes are worth buying as well for Junior's mixes! Check them out!

Very artistic effort. It seemed that after this album, Madonna decided to embrace escapism, seeing that the bare reality displayed with this album didn't translate into her usual massive album sales. The public just couldn't face the honesty she was trying to convey, with the lead single in particular, and she was sort of...neutered. To remain relevant in pop culture, she was then forced to make two very commercial pop albums. Confessions and Hard Candy are both very good for what they are, but this is the quality Madonna is capable of. She knows better. You can say many things about her, but she wouldn't still be going without creating interesting music, and this is one of her most ambitious and successful. i agree with the reviewers. a madonna fan should have this one. your collection is not complete without "in the beginning" or "pre-madonna" or "beginnings 1980-1981." actually, these are all the same album, 9 (or 10) tracks recorded before she was able to ink a deal with sire records in 1982. madonna and her friend stepehen bray recorded these demos and presented them to record producers but were turned down (and look who's laughing now!). yes, this is the real thing - not the trashy otto von wernher (whatever) songs that could have been curious collections if otto did not dip his finger in the original versions. in this cd, stephen tells the story of madonna in his own perspective and how they were able to collect such a body of work. not just for the curious ones, ... From the first few chords of this song, the listener knows: this is not going to be a pretty picture. Not at all is this a negation to the song or it's content, but simply sonically the beginning is a foreboding of what's to follow. And it is pretty: Never has Madonna sounded better. Her voice has a new depth and tone and the listener is taken on a gut-wrenching trip through bitterness and redemption. This has to be one of Madonna's finest releases and shockingly overlooked on the 93-99 video collection. The ultimate "I HATE YOU BUT I'LL LIVE" ode to all of us whose hearts have been crushed, stepped on and ripped up, but hey, life does go on...

When I first saw the video to this song, I loved it!! Madonna is a true artist. THis song reminds me of my childhood, and is also kinda cute for kids. Madonna always keeps you guessing at what she is going to do.

There are a lot of singers on this cd. that dont have the voices and the range and richness to be singing this music. buy one with the best of the singers who sang in the stage productions.
