I had the pleasure of listening to Anne-Sophie Mutter play the JS Bach violin concertos BWV 1041, BWV 1042 and BWV 1043 during her recent concert in East Lansing, Michigan. So I had to get this CD when I found out about it. I thought the recording was excellent, although I still preferred the live performance. Then I compared this with her previous recording with EMI. This newer DG recording is still Anne-Sophie, but I found her playing to be more mature and sublime. Not knowing what to expect of Gubaidulina, it took me two listenings to appreciate it. On the second listening, I found myself floating in a meditative state! Thank you for the music, and thank you for the experience.

What a rare treat to hear such a wonderful voice! The music transcends the various languages( Latin, Italian, French, Spanish and almost no English) and communicates directly, beyond intellect, deeper to sooth the soul. This we expect from Opera and Religious selections such as Pucinni's "Nessun Dorma" and Lloyd Webber's "Piu Jesu". A favorite is the solo rendition of "Time To Say Good-bye". Orchestrations are as light and lyric as the voice. Some tracks are found on other CD's and the enclosed photos are a bit risque, but again, the music reaches a much higher plane than most. You won't be disappointed.

This CD is brand new and -- YAY -- didn't arrive with cracks in the case! Very happy with this purchase.

Pavarotti is in his prime for this one and the selections are both touching and grand. Mille Cherubini, a tender lullaby, is my favorite but his Agnus Dei is rich and grand. The choral backgrounds are also very good. I bought the cassette when it came out in the 70's and I am thrilled that they reissued it as CD to grace my 2007 Christmas .

Arguably the least flawed of her albums, Brightman's "Time To Say Goodbye" is a collection of songs (new and classic standards) which could argue were written exclusively for her. Flawless duets galore and high notes that bring tears to listeners, her powerful voice generates more emotion with its dramatic storytelling than any film actress alive could do with the same material, using voice and facial emotion. A must have for fans, and those interested in La Divina for the 1980s and beyond.

Part of the reason of The Lord of the Rings movies success is due to the awesome score that Howard Shore has so magnificently created. A trully brilliant piece of art that pulls you into the world of Middle-Earth and keeps you there. You seldom hear genius any more, but this soundtrack is a stunning reminder that it still exists. The music raises its tempo gracefully with its drums without falling. It uses the choir and Celtic influences brilliantly. Each track fits the next like a hand in the glove. This was my first--and last--purchase from Amazon.com. I got wonderful turn-around time on my order of a CD. Sadly, they shipped a product that was damaged before they processed my order. The CD case was severely cracked with pieces missing. The missing pieces were not inside the shrink-wrapped packaging which lets me know it was damaged prior to packaging, and they shipped it anyway. There was no info on what to do if an order was damaged or how to return an item. I am a techno-dummy and am not very computer savvy, but I do know this much. I won't order anything direct-order fulfilled by Amazon.com again.
