This album is not just the main songs sung in the show but it's almost all of the music and songs in the show! For example, on the single CD the song Edelweiss is only sung by the Captain, Maria, the children and the chorus but on the 2nd album of this 40th Anniversary edition it's also has the song of Edelweiss sung by the Captain, Liesl and all of the children! It also has the music of the Grand Waltz, the day Maria took them for the trip and even the Austrian folk Dance that Kurt wanted to be taught by Maria and the Captain took over to complete the dance. Plus many more!

Another one of Julie Andrews wonderful musical movies! I never thought I'd find Mary Poppins on CD but was very happy when I did! As I then could learn like Mary Poppins how to say Supercalifragilistic backwards which I'm still learning how to do and as it as taken this long I don't think I ever will.

My family loves listening to this CD. We have numerous Disney music CD's and we listen to them constantly in the car. I would defintely recommend this to any Disney fan.

As with the first Christmas CD that I reviewed, which technically goes hand in hand with this particular Christmas CD (originally they were sold as a set), I must say that this one is just as amazing as the other one. As I said, these are the original songs by the original artists and the sounds are top notch. Burl Ives was a local son from my hometown area and many of us will remember him as "Sam the Snowman" in "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and there are many other wonderful singers on the CD from years past. These remind me of Christmases from when I was growing up, the big family dinners at our house, the aromas of great homecooking, the tree, decorations, the cold and snow outside, the presents and of course the fellowship of family and friends that would "stop by" bearing gifts and ... Although my daughter doesn't know the name Julie Andrews, she does know Maria from the Sound of Music, so she will listen to this music. Andrews truly has an exceptional voice, and she shows it off well in all these traditional English songs (with three movie love songs added on at the end). This is music that will make you feel serene and calm amidst the holiday rush, particularly if you are a soprano. This is not the same serenity you get with New Age instrumentals, you have to appreciate vocals. Imagine you are on mountaintop in Switzerland twirling around under the sun and clouds . . . .

When I was in radio we featured this "record". It became my favorite traditional Christmas record. The beautiful perfection of Julie Andrew's voice combined with the truly magnificent arrangements and orchestral renderings represent the true spirit and joy of the Christmas season. I searched for this record for YEARS and finally found it at Amazon...different cover, exactly the same music. I bought 2 copies as well as 2 copies of Julie Andrews "Greatest Christmas Songs". If you don't find your favorite carol on one CD, you will find it on the other!

The CD is great. Elphaba and Galinda have nice voices. If you want to have a karaoke night this would be perfect. The only reason you should not by this CD is if your favorite songs are the ones Fiyero sings. This Fiyero is AWFULLY TERRIBLY BAD! I had to skip Dancing Through Life because his voice bothered me so. It is like sitting in chorus class and the girl next to you can't sing to save her life, but she keeps singing louder and louder and louder until you want to scream GO HOME IF YOU CAN'T SING TWINKLE, TWINKLE LITTLE STAR WITHOUT MAKING MY EARS BLEED!

Michael Kamen has wrote and wonderful, moving and very enjoyable score in Band of Brothers. Some of the tracks are rousing and moving whiles others are more somber and reflective. The music reminded me of specific scenes from the series and is something I enjoy listening to over and over again. Like the series, Band of Brothers, the soundtrack will stand the test of time enjoyed and appreciated by future generations.
