This is a great JM CD if you are already a fan and are looking for that extra acoustic take on some familiar songs. I love the vocal rhythm changes in "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" and the soft guitar in "Belief" I definitely think that this offers a cool, chill feel to John's music, and is a nice tag along with "Where the light is?"

John Mayer couldn't have come to me with less of a negative vibe than he did when I was gifted this cd by a friend who is a huge fan. I have always liked her choices in music but she didn't help Mayer's cause by professing that she has often envisioned humping his leg during the many times she's seen him in concert. Her lust only underscored a common criticism of this artist; that he is more college girl heartthrob than cool guitar hero. It doesn't help that I'm beyond sick of seeing this guy's mug every time I stand on line in a supermarket and come face to face with the bathroom journals that scream at you from their perch next to the jerky and candy bars. Really enjoyed the movie, but didn't think I'd like the soundtrack as much. I was wrong, listened to it while driving from Los Angeles to San Diego and was singin' along with it the whole way!!

It is amazing that more than 1,000 people took the time to write their feelings and opinions about John Mayer's CD. It almost doesn't matter that some of the reviews are negative. When so many people have stong opinions about an artist, there is something going on. Mayer plays guitar like a champion, and he can sing.

I expected not to love this album based on a few negative reviews. I love being surprised. 'Heavier Things' is the most underrated Mayer album in my opinion....obviously it contains the Grammy-winning 'Daughters', but 'Clarity', 'Bigger Than my Body' and 'Split Screen Sadness' are equally loveable tunes. It's interesting when Mayer sings 'Wheel' and 'Something's Missing', you feel like you've been there, exactly where he's at, at some point in your life, and he knows it. The lyrics are so easy to relate to. Give it a TRY! :-)

This should be called "Promise Kept"! At times it evokes BBK, the ABB, SRV, Bonnie Raitt, Johnny Lang, and more. But it's all John Mayer. I downloaded this last night and then bought the CD this morning. This grabbed me from the first song, and gave me shivers. First new CD to get me excited in a long time. If you like good blues rock guitar, don't hesitate. If you like his pop songs, I can't help you. If you ever wondered why EC invited John Mayer to the Crossroads Guitar Festival, this should put that to rest. In case you could not tell, I really liked this. This one is destined to get worn out in all my players. Nice....

"Comfortable" is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Ha ha...that probably sounds a bit hyperbolic, no? I swear, though, it is absolutely arresting in both its melody and its lyrics. I first heard "Comfortable" back in high school (I was one of those Atlanta kids who were lucky enough to catch John Mayer on the upswing), and it nearly stopped my heart, it was so beautiful and tragic. It still has the same effect on me, and I highly recommend it! It's the most original, poignant, and REAL break-up song you'll ever hear. Absolutely gut-wrenching. Amazing. Face-meltingly beautiful. I am a big John Mayer fan, however, this one is just ok. The jams are a bit long and the sounds quality could use some refinement.
