Ok, now I think that Enchanted has a powerful instrumental soundtrack, and I admire that. Unfortunately, it can get a little too 'girly' a little too quickly, and that's where I have to draw my border between stepping into, well, non-guyish quality. I mean, I will admit...for guys, the album could go without 'Ever Ever After', and all the fluffy sung songs in the beginning, but I guess that's what made up Enchanted. As for the instrumental pieces, they were awesome.

As with the first Christmas CD that I reviewed, which technically goes hand in hand with this particular Christmas CD (originally they were sold as a set), I must say that this one is just as amazing as the other one. As I said, these are the original songs by the original artists and the sounds are top notch. Burl Ives was a local son from my hometown area and many of us will remember him as "Sam the Snowman" in "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and there are many other wonderful singers on the CD from years past. These remind me of Christmases from when I was growing up, the big family dinners at our house, the aromas of great homecooking, the tree, decorations, the cold and snow outside, the presents and of course the fellowship of family and friends that would "stop by" bearing gifts ... I bought this CD originally because my 7 yo son was cast in a local production. I figured it would help him learn the words. For that reason, the CD did its job. It's turned out to be one of his favorite Christmas CDs. I must admit that the Albert Finney version of Scrooge has always been my favorite, even as a child. I had to listen to it a few times to digest it. Eventually it grew on me. First off, Track 1, A Christmas Carol only played for about 1 minute and then would go to track two. That was a disappointment because as someone else said, the first song is wonderful. I liked all the songs and the added one, Good Times, that the Cratchit family sings. A terrific show. An excellent CD. Most of the songs are better than anything on Broadway today. It is a shame that it is the paying public that decides what will be a hit or a failure. Alot of the shows that the public makes hits are really bad just like TV shows.

This is a magnificent pairing of voices. I've had the disc for years and it never fails to leave me feeling uplifted and awed.

This is a very good CD. Harry James played the trumpet like noone else and the orchestrations are lovely. Velvet Moon and Sleepy Lagoon are my favorites and I can play them over and over again!

Of course there should have been much more. I remember there been a Metropolian Opera series called CAST ALBUMS- 100 YEARS that was put out for a limited time only and had like five volumes. As Peter Filichia noted they left out SHE LOVES ME, BRIGADOON and SWEENEY TODD. Also nothing from PACIFIC OVERTURES, BIG RIVER, CHESS, CRAZY FOR YOU, JEKYLL & HYDE, TITANIC, THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, FOOTLOOSE- THE MUSICAL, THE FULL MONTY, URINTOWN... But they couldn't have put it all. I would have done without Lee Remick's "Anyone Can Whistle", because the show was a flop. I guess because it was Sondheim's first "serious" show...

THe Bach Brandenburg #2 (William Buckley's Firing Line Theme)is the one that was used on the show. Wonderful interpretation and playing.
