Some of the greatest music ever by one of the greatest artists ever!!! I won't do a lengthy review for you can find plenty of them here. The only drawback to this album is the first song is poor in sound quality. But, its from 1942 and isn't a professional recording, so what do you expect? Its cool to hear Ol' Hank moanin from 1942. The rest of the tracks are of very good quality especially when you consider they come from the late 40's and early 50's. The music is fantastic! If you like Hank Williams this is a must have! It is my all time favorite CD set. I hope someday to get the complete collection CD set, but till then this CD set will more than do. wonderful old music. brought back many great memories. many words we should all think of everyday. People today have lost their love of one another. We need to get back the old standards or how we treat out neighbors. We have the 33 rpm record and now enjoy having the CD to play while traveling.

I'm really impressed by this 4 CD collection. Apart from his last 1952 the CD's covers Hank Williams' entire career. hough it's slightly frustrating having to look out for his last recordings somewhere else, this is really a great buy. The sound surprisingly good, even the radio acetates from his Health and Happiness shows sound good, and it's very interesting to experience a little of how Williams was a a live performer. The 52 pages booklet contains a detailed biography and a lot of information about Hank's sessions and recordings. Highly recommended

I ordered this through Amazon from a seller named horizons50. They sent a similarly named CD but it was not what Amazon has shown. Amazon describes it as a double-CD with 49 tracks but horizons50 sent a single disc collection with only 37 tracks. The cover is different also.

The quality is surprisingly really good and there are great (unique) covers of songs by Hank Williams Jr. like "I'm so lonesome I could cry," "I saw the light," and "Jambalaya (on the bayou)." Those most of these songs are done very much in a "1960's style" of country, but still very good and worth buying. These versions of the songs from my experience are rare to find from my experience so I reccomend getting it if I liked the movie...

The early works of Hank Williams Jr. are very hard to find on cd. This disc, (like the other back to back collection), offers 6 gems from the MGM years. This is a low-priced disc that will probably be out-of-print soon. Need I say more...GET THIS CD!

This was recorded for the soundtrack of the early 60's movie "Your Cheatin' Heart". Hank Jr. was about 14 at the time. That is what makes this such a special, such a great selection of songs. Hank Jr would spend virtually the rest of his life in his famous father's shadow, looking for a way to put his own rebellious spin on the old tunes. But here, he's just a kid imitating his dead father as purely as he can. The results are wonderful. No pretentions of being a hillbilly rocker that dominates his later recordings, just played straight up. Since this was soundtrack material some of the songs are downright corny and overdone, that's ok. There's real innocence in Jr's delivery that overcomes all other complaints. Jr also did a great LP around 1968 called "Songs My Father Left Me". It included the minor hit "Cajun ... Read More
