A friend of mine got this for her son about 3 years ago and he's still listening to the stories. Its calming and interesting. Its great in the car. The story goes along with the movements of the piece and really brings classical music and a great story to children. I now get this for all my friends with babies and small children.

It's funny how over the years you find something special. This is one of those special music moments. I do think that every person will have one track they like better than others but for me there is one track that just chills you to the bone. It's worth the money for the whole CD just for the one track. I just wish this was a 7.1 surround sound recording. I guess one day it will be :o)

This is a 2 CD set and is one of my favorites. While this CD contains several pieces that the general public probably hears often (Handel's Messiah, Bach's Jesu Bleibet mein freund) it also contains some not well known pieces. Of particular quality is the recording of Gregorio Allegri's MISERE MEI DEUS, a piece composed at the end of the Renaissance era. This piece, lasting roughly 13 minutes, is a master stroke of pure choral music. The piece is repetitive but Allegri builds up to a fantastic ending. Also of note is the glorious recording of Mozart's AVE VERUM CORPUS, Hadyn's DIE SCHOPFUNG, and Brahm's EIN DEUTCHES REQUIEM. A MUST for any choral music fan.

My mom loves British comedies as seen on our local PBS station and BBC America. She also liked this CD. Trust my mom, she has good taste. :)

As other reviewers have noted, the Dale Warland Singers are spectacular in their sound and blend. Frank Martin's mass is a treat--and I personally LOVE the Gloria and Credo, thank you very much Mr. Bass Barreltone! :-) For another wonderful album of new but not "modern" music, try Arvo Pärt: De Profundis. You will meet the Paul Hillier "Theatre of Voices", who may be the only choir I've heard that rivals the Dale Warland Singers for richness and unity of sound.
